we often get delivery from this place and the food is pretty tasty. it looks and tastes a lot healthier than a few other italian places nearby. the sandwiches are lovely, and the spicy penne pasta is a good contrast to the mixed green salad. i also recommend the pizzas here as well. the crusts are light and thin and the sauce could almost be homemade.

does ANYBODY notice that its the SAME curry sauce they put on EVERY dish? that means everyone is ordering the same dish, just different meats.
who are we kidding? spaghetti noodles, hot dogs, and japanese curry in one dish? this might sound appetizing to a ten year old, but really, why??? the place is clean enough, and the staff is friendly, but the food is really atrocious. huge portions of goo on top of rice or noodles is not my idea of sustenance.

its a nice little twist on teriyaki beef, but in steak form. this houston's is nicer than a few others i've been to, and the atmosphere is a lot more fun. the staff is knowledgeable, and the food is great great great. the upstairs is a sushi bar and lounge and is a nice place to wait til you get a table. the steaks are fabulous and the desserts are lovely.

the place is a no frills fast food japanese joint, with a long line of people waiting patiently to place their order at the front.
the food leans toward the teriyaki/ udon crowd, but their pieces of sushi are decent and the flavors are tasty.
portions are generous and everybody's friendly. i wouldn't recommend the calamari salad as the little critters are often overcooked here for some reason. but the combos are a good deal, and its a huge step up from fast food in quality.

it USED to be a decent place when it actually had a japanese flair to it. now that it "reinvented" itself as cal-italian, it sold its soul and became this dark and boring place.
even the music gives it an air of desperation, instead of the hip and trendy vibe its trying to come across as.
its only saving grace (and this is being said begrudgingly) is that the frou frou cocktails are made well and fun to look at.
so maybe just stay at the bar and order a drink or two. but then take the fistful of dough you'll be saving and head over to el burrito junior.

what a strange place to find a great french cafe! there's almost nothing bad here, except maybe the mousse- its a tad gritty.
but the salads are all lovely and generous. chevre chaud salad, salad nicoise, grilled salmon salad, shrimp ceasar salad (when its available- tons of shrimp!), etc. the french fries are lovely, and the soups are homey and satisfying.
talus is the sweetest. he's one of the many great staff here and i'm never disappointed when i'm here.

although a tad pricey for what it is, overall cafe brazil is a good place to go. its not fancy seating, and when its cold out, you better have on something warm, but the feijoda stew is great and so is the sugarcane juice.
there are maps of brazil near the front where you order, and the cooks are friendly, although the owner, at least i think he's the owner, is pretty moody. but who goes to a restaurant for the owner? the food is authentic and the place is cute all done up in the twinkly lights...

went a few times before and after watching movies at the theater next door. the outdoor seating in the summertime almost makes you forget you're in the middle of old town pasadena. food is decent, but service is erratic. the servers all but disappear once they take your order. and a couple times some of our hot food were served as if it waited too long out of the microwave.
still, the coffee is nice and if you're just there for a snack then its a cool place to go.

don't know what happened, but service is not up to par anymore. booked a service for myself and my mother for a haircut. we were supposed to be scheduled with two of their regular stylists. when we get there (on time, mind you) we have to wait fifteen minutes. not really a problem, its a saturday afternoon and i can see that they were busy. my mother gets the correct stylist, but i still have to wait. i see her finishing up with her client, so i think, 'great, not much more time to wait'. and then she walks over... to take another client. WHAT??? so i figure that she might have been backed up, but the staff said nothing to me. then another girl calls on me to get my hair washed. it wasn't until after the wash that i realize that this was the person that was going to cut my hair! she was the new talent, meaning that she wasn't established there yet (and in my opinion, not as experienced). her cut was not at the level i expected of this place.
before, when i would go here, they offered two "sensory treatments" complimentary with a haircut. there was no mention of any change or anything, so when my stylist asked what i wanted, i told her i wanted a facial and a hand massage. she told me that they only give one treatment now as it was the new policy. huh? my facial was just a step above an impatient mother wiping her very messy kid's face off. and i've had good facials here- even great!
when i was asking her opinions on how to cut my bangs, she sounded unsure and not very creative. then, when she lopped off my bangs (way too short, i guess she was taking too long with me) she actually tried to style my hair WITH bobby pins, saying that these were her saving grace. WHAT? i go to a hair salon to make my hair look good WITHOUT accessories or doodah.
totally disappointed with the service, totally unhappy with my hair. at least sonja did a great job with my mother's hair. i will never go back here, nor will i ever recommend anyone here again. this place has gone downhill.

the french toast is unholy- so fluffy and tasty- even my husband (who's not a french toast eater) kept stealing forkfuls of mine. they make it with king's hawaiian bread, which adds to the richness, i believe. also they have this thing called a royale, which is like an omelet that exploded on itself. also very good and makes me feel like a little kid again when i eat it.
be warned, though- the portions are enormous. even the smallest portions of some of the combos are bigger than normal. love this place!
