gyu kaku is a drinking person's joint- the food, while tasty, is not the star here. the beers are what should shine here, and the little hibachi grilled dishes are just to snack on in between glasses.
don't get me wrong- the food is tasty, even if the portions are bordering on miniature. and when you come with friends and enjoy slow leisurely eating (because you've eaten an actual meal elsewhere) then this is a good spot. but i'd go to fu rai bo just down the street on sawtelle instead.
loud, but fun.
