My two boys (ages 1 & 3) LOVE, love, love this program called Kid Praise! It is from 10-11:00 once a week (Wednesdays), and it is free! You just need to call to sign up. They learn songs, rythym, motions, etc. The teachers are great & the other moms are really nice. They use all kinds of props & things to get the little ones to participate. It is a bit difficult to find your way if you don't like driving downtown, but it has been worth it to see my kids have so much fun & learn new things.

Scofield is a great chuch! We have been attending for a year and a half now, and are happy to have settled here. It's pretty big, so the best way to get to know people is to be in a Sunday School class or in a Bible Study or something. They have Mother's Day out once a month for only $5 per kid. The childcare is good. One of my favorite things about Scofield is their MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers) program, which is excellent. I love it because this is a very unpretentious group who loves the Lord, and I would be a very lonely momma without it.

We love our nearby library. I have never been to the children's story time on Wed. mornings, but my friend has and she says it's really good. They do have a pretty cute children's area, with a small couch & stuffed animals, puzzles, etc. It is a small, homey library. We have not been overly impressed by the staff there; they don't seem that friendly, but neither are they rude. They now have a marquis and more events to go to, such as the recent festival they had, which was fun. We got a lot of books & videos at the book sale held at that time!

I gave this 4 stars because I really like the food! I might have given it 3 stars, though, because the service isn't always excellent. The first time we went we had a great waiter; the next 3 times, they just were not that attentive or friendly. I guess Julia Child has eaten at Matt's, and other famous people. Like I said, the food is really good & authentic. And they have some unusual but yummy things to try, like their chicken fried steak, which is grilled, and their chile dish (which I can't remember the name of right now) that has raisins & pecans on it!

This is a really fun shop! They have novelty items, retro items (obviously), vintage clothing, and I think even some vintage furniture. It is a fun place to browse with a friend! SOME of the items are a bit off-the-cuff; it's not really a kid-friendly store. And there are other fun shops around it, so you can make an afternoon of it the Lakewood area.

My family shops here all the time. Another reviewer said it was "no frills," and that's true, but they have gotten more organized & clean since we first started going. Sometimes the prices are not so reasonable, but generally they are. And they DO have a huge selection! It's a great place to get clothes & videos, especially. I think their shoes are priced really high, but they do have a big selection, and I have gotten several NICE pairs for my boys there. Our VCR recently broke, and we got one from them. It was not returnable, so I was a bit scared, but it works GREAT! They do test their electronics, and you can test them at the store, too.

My husband & I had a good experience with this automotive place. They do complete repair, have an indoor play area, and 24 hr towing service. They did their free 40 point vehicle inspection on our car, and we found that helpful. Their prices seem reasonable. They accidentally charged us for something that they didn't do, but they quickly sent us a check before we even knew we were overcharged in the first place! We were quite satisfied with this business.

Uncle Julio's is a great place for Mexican fare. I have only been twice and ordered the same thing, but the service and quality is excellent! I would highly recommend getting the "Plato Gordo," which easily feeds 4 people: fajitas, ribs, bacon-wrapped shrimp, and all the fixings. It is a winner! It's also a good place to bring kids, as the atmosphere is fairly loud & a screaming child will not likely be the center of embarassing attention.
