yes, sure, it's a vegetarian restaurant and it caters to vegetarians. but as an omnivore, i often like to eat veggie dishes - i don't want to only eat meat. but i won't eat the dishes at bamboo garden.
i find that their food is too often deep friend and with heavy sauces. that i can handle. what i can't handle is the odd aftertaste that i've experienced every time i've had food from bamboo garden. i don't know if it's the fake meats or the sauces, but it's consistent.
i've eaten at many veggie places before so i know it's not all that common. too bad.

the title pretty much sums it up - they always have good food but the service is often just ok. i've run into very snotty hostesses and waitstaff there, and i'm *really* not into the 'our restaurant is so pretentious that we can treat the customers badly' scene. i stick to take-out when i want food from chinoise.
i think their sushi is ok, but i've had much better. once or twice it was on the chewy side, and i don't like every piece of sushi adorned with scallions. good cali rolls, and they have good lunch specials.
their mu shu is great! heaping mounds of fresh veggies with your chioce of meat, and very tasty.

maybe i'm spoiled by the amazingly quick service i get at orrapin, but even if i'd never been to orrapin i'd still recognize how slow the service was at thai kitchen. and that's too bad because the food is very tasty and they have a large menu, chock full of something for everyone.
the food is nicely prepared, not too heavy on sauces or garlic, and the meats and veggies are cooked well. i've never had anything but good things to say about their food.
but when there is literally only one other person in the entire restaurant, you don't expect to have a 20-minute wait for your food, and almost as long of a wait for your check.
i hope they pick up the pace.

take-out is a great option there as well. usually ready in 10-15 mins, even on a busy night. i don't think i've ever waited for my take-out order for more than 2 minutes.

the paragon has very nice food and a terrific bar scene. but the last few times i've got it just hasn't been a great experience.
the wine selection is nice, we had a bottle of argyle that was pretty perfect. and the bartender mixes a good drink, that's for sure.
but their service is good - been running on the slow side lately, but it's pretty good.
their food is nice but way too heavy on the garlic. appetizers are covered in it, side dishes are covered in it...we were expecting dessert to have garlic in it! luckily it did not.
paragon is worth checking out, especially if you want a nice dinner on the ave

what do you call a place where the food is incredible, the service is impeccable, the bartender pours a perfect martini, and the desserts are something you'll dream about for a month after eating them? i call it the metropolitan grill.
i've been lucky enough to go there twice in the past few months and if it wasn't so expensive (and it IS damn expensive!) then i'd go every week. the service is almost comical it's so perfect. nice, attentive waiters/waitresses. busboys that fill your water before you even know your glass is almost empty. etc. but the food...it's just to die for. amazing. incredible. mouth-watering and cooked to perfection. prepared exactly how you ordered it. whether you get a steak, the halibut, or anything in between you will not be disappointed.
and if you like chocolate, i have 4 words for you: 9 layer chocolate cake. ok, so it's 3 words and a number but just shut up and go eat the cake. trust me.

i checked out a bunch of catering companies for my hubby's 40th b-day a few years back, and 12 baskets came highly recommended. i went in for a taste trial and was very impressed with them. they are nice, have a great menu selection, are reasonably priced, and have WONDERFUL food. the setup is very pleasing to the eye - cheese boards with provolone roses, etc. we had 40 guests and everyone raved about the food.
everything you might want to know about them is on their website, http://www.twelvebasketscatering.com.

but first about WA - 1% of all bills got to nonprofit groups. the donate millions every year (almost $7 million last year) to groups working for peace, human rights, equality, education, and a clean environment. it's a wonderful ideal, and i wish more companies would follow suit. BUT every phone bill, correspondence, etc. reads like an ACLU newsletter. so either be a supporter or be able to ignore all of the 'extras' that come with each bill.
and it's easy to ignore the overload of info when you are paying 2.1cents a minute for the first year! (after that it only goes to 5 cents per minute). in-state calls are 5 cents per min. international is also very cheap - canada is $4/month and 6 cents per minute. my last few phone bills have been $10 or so, down from $30 plus. they also give you a voucher to make up for the money that your current company will charge you for making the change. AND they send you a gift certificate for a free pint of ben & jerry's every month!
through WA you can also get wireless service, credit cards, etc. but as promised i'll keep this review to their long-distance.

my husband's been using susan lawrence for ages and has always been happy with her (as am i). we have a lot of friends who use them as well, many of whom are, um, very financially secure. she's helped us plan for both short and long-run, from vacations to kids college funds to retirement. her staff is also great, and they are all very responsive.

we got a caprese salad and some wine to start. the caprese was by far the best i've ever had. i didn't know it could taste so amazing! the tomatoes were heirloom and were plump and fresh. the mozzerella had to have been homemade, i've never had such yummy cheese. and whatever herbs they used in the oil and vinegar was to die for.
the dinner was outstanding - the perfect blend of spices and chunks of meat over not-too-much pasta. and tons of flavor without feeling like i just ate an entire bulb of garlic. lots of veggie options on the menu.
before we were even done with the appetizer i wanted to make plans to return.
fairly priced, but not cheap. worth every cent.
