This place carries over 50 items to choose from. Although you get to choose your items, you don't get to scoop them up yourself. Someone stands behind the steam table and asks you for your choice. But for the price ($4 for 4 sides and white rice, or $3 for the same on night), it's a steal. Choices include the Chinese-American (sweet and sour pork, fried rice, lo mein) and the Chinese-Chinese ("lion's head" meatball, steamed egg patty, tofu dishes). No ambiance, no funky atmosphere. Just a heart meal fast.

The dumplings here are excellent and not to mention cheap ($1 for 5 Fried Dumplings, $2 for 10 Boiled Ones). Depending on your tastes, you can order a variety of dumplings with different fillings (pork and cabbage, seafood, chicken and mushroom, my favorite is the pork and chives). The fried ones are good but not very fresh and most likely will give you heartburn afterwards. My favorite are the boiled ones, nice and plump and excellent with some of the black vinegar and hot sauce on the table. They have excellent, authentic North-style/Beijing appetizers such as Beef Pancake, Hot & Spicy Cucumber, Green Bean Congee (this I have never heard of), and their Chicken and Corn Soup is excellent! You can seriously have a lunch for under $5. A Must!

This place is famous for its noodles. After surviving a fire 10 years ago, Bo Ky has been thriving in the heart of chinatown. Their noodles come in huge bowls and plenty of choices (Seafood, Beef Stew) with bean sprouts. However, go easy on the soup, it's loaded with MSG that will keep you thirsty the entire week. Prices are very fair (under $5 for a bowl). Also try their fried spring rolls, peppery and very addicting.

This place has been one of my favorites for many years. Their specialties are Chicken Leg over Rice or Pork Chop over Rice (both around $4.25). The best part is the minced beef sauce they serve over it, with some perserved cabbage and a tea egg (extra, but definetely worth it). Service is quick and fast (small establishment) and food is quickly in 5 minutes. Also try their Fried Rice, a lot less greasy than the ones you find at the rip-off Chinese restaurants.

This place serves much more customers than it can hold. Good Shanghai style restaurant with pretty good Steamed Little Buns (Shiao Lung Bao) and good noodle soups (Pork and Preserved Vegetable Noodle Soup). Appetizers are also good. However, expect to wait 10-20 minutes on the line for spot, especially on nights and weekends. Good place for lunch.

It's been quite a few years since I've been to this place. But what I can remember is that this place is great to have Dim Sum Brunch. Not a very big establishment but however, the food is really good without being too greasy and bland. Watch for the ladies pushing the cart and picking out what you want. Buns are good here also, along with a cup of tea & milk or coffee and your good to go for breakfast. Great location in Chinatown.

Considering the location of this restaurant (the very heart of touristy Chinatown), this place attempts to advertise themselves as high-end, fancy but yet fun, Chinese food. Dim Sum is okay, Entrees are way too overpriced. Their sister restaurant in Flushing is cheaper but not any better. They cater mostly to tourists and big groups. In my opinion, too fluffed up.

Not as good as their sister restaurant on Walker Street, mostly because this branch is much busier than the other one. Service is kinda lacking but the food is slightly better. Good Congee, Rice Plates, Excellent Appetizers that have a Western/Japanese twist to them. Noodle Soups are also good and so are their Beverages (HK Style Milk Tea, Bubble Tea). Try to get a comfortable seat, it can get crowded.

This place serves mostly HK style Chinese. However, don't be fooled by its size (it's smaller than it's sister restaurant on Hester). Extensive menu with very reasonable rice dishes (recommended: Taiwanese style pork chop over rice with vegetables $3.75) and noodle soups, and excellent congee in stone pot. They also have a hot pot now for $20 per person unlimited food items. Service is better than the one on Hester street, very relaxed and fun.

This place is famous for it's Chinese Rice Casserole. It's basically rice in an clay pot, and cooked over direct heat with various toppings such as Preserved Meat (Chinese Sausage, Chinese Bacon), Chicken and Mushrooms, Mushroom, Eel, Beef Pattie. They're all very Chinese styled but very basic. Perfect on a cold night. Entrees and Rice dishes are so-so but their noodles and bbq items are not bad.
