Very poor home selling experience 6/7/2005

If you look around Kirkland, you'll see Fay Besharat's name on a lot of home sale listings. As a result, my wife and I chose Fay to sell our house this past winter, as well as use her as a buying agent, but sadly ended up regretting it very much. We felt very poorly served and advised throughout the process, and would warn others away from this "volume" agent. Fay's general approach is to get you to take the first offer you get and move the property, as well as make an full list offer on the buying side. No negotiation means quick and high volume, which is how she gets more results for herself, which is why she then seems like the most successful agent (and why we sadly chose her). She was very pushy for us to accept offers and make low counter offers, even saying we should consider an offer $100K below our asking price. She said we'd be "rude" if we didn't counter, and we finally ended up lowering our ask $10K. That was accepted and the next day we got an offer for our original full price that we couldn't then accept - effectively costing us $10K. On the buying side, she never even bothered to see the house we wanted, but kept peddling other houses she had as her own listings. We eventually ended up with a full price offer for the other house, and thought she hardly negotiated at all. Ultimately, we controlled the buying and selling decisions and so have the responsibility of the final numbers, but didn't feel we had an advocate. Most disturbingly though, we didn't feel respected as a client throughout the process. Fay was late for EVERY meeting with us - sometimes as much as an hour late. That to us is always a sign that the person doesn't feel you are very important. I hesitate to post such a negative review, but really feel like warning others of our troubles in what is such a normally important decision for most people. more
