Who could turn down a Krispy Kreme Donut? Chris Rock joked that if customers found out Krispy Kreme had drugs in them, we would simply go "I knew something was up; those were too good." Well, he was right. These donuts are simply delicious and irrestible. When you immediately see them you know you want one. And they proudly show them off - from their doughy start - to there finish under the icing machine. This is a nice feature of a Krispy Kreme Shop. It becomes like an event. You follow them down the conveyer belt towards their ultimate destination - your mouth. They have many different varieties - and all should be tried - however, the classic Original Glazed is a great stand-by. If you do pass by and their florescent "Hot Light" is lit advertising that their donuts are "Hot Now" definately stop by. You are guaranteed to have a free sample of the delicious pastry. Then freely decide which one(s) you want. This is the hard part. Definately get a drink to go with it. Chocolate or regular milk is always a great compliment. The donuts are different from the standard traditional donut to which most are familiar. Yet this different take at a traditional treat, is a welcomed departure. After trying a Krispy Kreme, you may not want any other type.

New York pizza is always praised, and while many people may attempt to imitate it - few seem successful. Some just offer wider pizza. Some just thinner pizza. There is more to New York Pizza than just this. It is texture, size, varieties, and taste. Mulberry excellently covers all this ground. The pizza here is thin. The perfect thickness to fold in half and chomp away at. The pizza is wide. Folding this pizza in half is a necessity. One could not dream of fitting it all in at once. Mulberry Street Pizzeria offers many New York varieties. Few companies realize the importance and authenticity offering white pizza brings to the table. And finally, the taste: Mulberry Street Pizzeria has the taste of New York Pizza. It is so delicious. Even if you have never had New York Pizza, I would find it hard to resist this great style. And with pizza ordered by the slice, there is no greater way to buy a great cheap meal. The atmosphere is nice also. The small pizzeria is offers both table seating and counter. The Los Angeles touch is of course the wall covered in celebrity - or one-time/pseudo-celebrities - signed headshots praising the great pizzeria. And they did get it right. So instead of traveling all the way to Mulberry Street, New York City, just visit Mulberry Street Pizzeria in Encino. It is a much shorter trip, but very much worth-while.

Baja Fresh is not authentic Mexican food; but that is not to discredit it as delicious or false. It is Baja Californian Food; better yet, it simply a result of health conscience Californians attempt at Mexican cuisene. And it is delicious. Baja Fresh avoids all the grease and frying of authentic Mexican food in place of an emphasis on grilled meats and fresh vegetables. Most of the portions are huge and worth the inexpensive price of a few dollars. Burritos are stuffed with a variety of meats, beans, rice, cheeses, grilled vegetables, and sides - including a great and extremely fresh pico de gallo of simply tomato, onion, and cilantro. Orders also come with a large portion of their fried tortilla chips - a perfectly salty combination to their burritos. The tostado and salad bowls are also a great option for a meal. Be sure to try the several varieties of salsa - ranging from mild to spicy. Each one is a delicious compliment to the meal. If the Baja Fresh brand wasn't fresh and healthy enough - they have come out with more updated even healthier options. As opposed to the large burittos - most of which are not carb-light, now costumers can order "bare burittos" which are a healthier option. They offer a wide variety of fresh Mexican-like food. Either way, Baja Fresh, is a nice option for a quick bite to eat.

Recently added to the growing center of Downtown Los Angeles, the Walt Disney Concert Hall is a must visit. Its spectacular architecture and design, dreamed up by Frank Gehry, is so eye-catching and interesting. If you only have a short time free, definately at the very least go to visit the outside of the building. It's sleek metalic curves will definately impress the eye. Then if possible walk inside to the lobby. You may be lucky enough to catch some of a free show. The Los Angeles Philarmonic has its home in the Walt Disney Hall between October and May/June, so in order to catch a spectacular orchestra, go then. Within the past few years, they have begun holding leased events. The sound in the Walt Disney Hall is absolutely on par with its outside structure and design. The inners of the hall were designed with the exact intent of carrying the clearest and best possible sound quality available. And they do. You are surrounded and drowned in the music of the Concert Hall. Also, the Hall is centrally located near the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion, as well as the Ahmanson Theatre and the Mark Taper Circle. Also just down Grand Avenue is the Los Angeles Central Public Library. A little bit further is the exciting Grand Central Market and Little Tokyo. A trip to Downtown LA to visit the Walt Disney Hall is a necessity for any traveler or resident of Los Angeles/

Want to travel back to the fifties for just a half hour. Then definately visit your nearest Johnny Rockets. They have some of the juiciest burgers you will ever find. There fries always seem crisp. And the milkshakes are always in large portions and the perfect compliment to any of their dishes. Prices are unfortunately not also in the theme of the fifties era. But they will not break your wallet. Expect mid-to-high ranged prices, including a burger for probably five dollars. However, this time it is well worth the price. The staff are always extremely outgoing and friendly. And the food, the food is, as mentioned, so filling and delicious. As a suggestion, make a meal out of their chili-fries along with a milk shake or, even better, a malt. Their malts are excellent. With many locations, you are bound to find one near you. And if you do, try it, because Johnny Rockets is definately worth the trip.

The food here is simply delicious. The food ranges covers many different traditional Indian meals and plates; included are rices, curries, chicken, lamb, potato dishes, and of course naan bread. The menu is quite extensive and covers practically every and any hunger and taste desire. Also, they have many different flavors of milk shakes including pistachio, almond, and the delicious mango milk shake. Along with your order you do receive pickled carrots and several different chutneys. Beware because some of these can easily be considered too spicy for some diners. However, I found them all delicious. The unfortunate aspect of the restaurant is the prices. They are not as low as they once were. And even worse, the traditional flat naan bread (a must for any Indian cuisene) nor a bowl of rice come complimentary along with any order. They are separate side orders that are charged. Now this isn't to say that the restaurant is now expensive. It is still in the low price range, seeing that most plates fall between the price of eight and thirteen dollars. Portions are midsized and several plates should be ordered and shared among a group, small or large. However, overall the food is delicious and worthy of at least one trip by any.

For a great markety offering food (often organic) at incredible quality - shop at Whole Foods. The prices reflect the quality, so there is some to a lot of price inflation to the food's mainstream supermarket counterparts; however, they do have great selection. As far as store prepared food, Whole Foods offers some of the best. I absolutely recommend going in for a meal from the deli, sushi bar, teryiaki counter, pizza station, or extensive salad bar. They offer some great harder to find foods in the peak of their form. The prepared food is always delicious. For produce, not all of the food is organic, but a good portion is. Their produce is again, somewhat to much higher priced than that at a large supermarket. They do offer great items in bulk as well - such as beans, grains, oats, etc. Definately stop by Whole Foods for a quick bite for lunch there or to take out. It will definately satisfy.

The best movie house in Los Angeles. The Bridge in Culver City gives the Arclight a close run, however, I always end up picking the Arclight over all others. The incredible seating - with more than ample room, the beautiful picture and unbelievable sound quality, the delicious carmel popcorn, the great selection of movies (ranging from big budget blockbusters to extremely limited releases), the special event screenings, and above all, the Arclight Cinemrama Dome. The Cinerama Dome offers the greatest movie viewing experience in Los Angeles. Better than an I-Max, the Dome offers a wider, surrounding visual experience. In addition to a more all-encompassing screen, the sound is unbelievable. The Dome is a separate building from the rest of the Arclight theatres, and therefore has is its own organism. Sound echoes throughout the Dome clearer and louder than anywhere else. The seats are all comfortable and good viewing. And the organization of ordering a specific seat location (like at a performing arts theatre or sporting event) provide a guaranteed seat together as a group. Do enroll in their Arclight Members program in order to receieve member points for all money spent at the theatre or online for tickets. Eventually these points can be exchanged for concessions or tickets. All around a great way to experience a great movie.

The more the better at Buca Di Beppo. Everything is served family style at this fun Southern Italian restaurant, so bring as many friends and family as possible. The portions are huge and the food, simply delicious. Definately start with an order of pizza (one can serve a group of 10 - 15 as a nice appetizer) their delicious circles of garlic bread. You have to love garlic to order one; they are covered in it. Then continue with an order of any of their delicious pastas, another pizza, or their great meat dishes - ay and all of which are incredibly delicious. Finish with their great canollis or spumoni - if you have the room. The staff at the restaurants are always extremely friendly and helpful. Buca Di Beppo is an incredible place for a party or celebration. The staff and restaurant will be sure to add something special to the night. Definately please visit any of the several locations in order for a fun evening out with friends and family. I have heard doubts about the location in the Universal City Walk, however, having been to several of the other locations, they are all quite worth while.

If visiting or living in Los Angeles a trip to the LA Farmers' Market on 3rd and Fairfax is an incredible way to spend the afternoon or evening. It boasts many little, one of a kind, food stands offering delicious and authentic food from all parts of the world - the Middle East, New Orleans, Korea, French (awesome crepes), Mexican, etc. Also, the market has some great butchers (the long one on the East end is great and has pretty good prices), candies and treats (the ice cream always is so fragrant), and great produce. Also, in season produce is always priced better than any other chain market around. Check ahead if the Farmers' Market is having any special performances (during the summer they often do night musical performances that make the evening even more fun). Finally, the market is located right next to the Grove - a nice compliment to the market. The Grove has many big chain shops - clothing including Banana Republic and Lucky Jeans and other shops including an Apple Store and a huge Barnes and Nobles - as well as a nice movie theatre. It also is just a nice walk around the beautiful fountains or neat old trolley that rolls up and down the Grove. Overall, it is a fun day trip for all.
