I've had some of the best Sushi here. Pieces of fish are very fresh and large. Menu prices are slightly higher than what you would find at other places - but the better quality makes it worth it. This place makes you realize that other sushi restaurants may be using fish that's been previously frozen. I've also tried their combos - but the Teriyaki Chicken was not that great. So I stick to Sushi when coming here. The older Japanese lady servers may be slower that what you're used to, but add charm to the dining experience.

Salmon Creek Restaurant in Kirkland (Juanita Village) has excellent Japanese grilled items. Lunch Bento Boxes for $7.95 are great and filling. The quality is consistently fresh, and staff is friendly. I have not tried their Sushi. The restaurant is somewhat hidden behind Walgreens and near Massage Envy - just down the alley from Starbucks. www.salmoncreeksushi.com

When I first moved to Kirkland 3 years ago, Rikki Rikki was my favorite Japanese restaurant. However my visits during the past year have been disappointing. I often order a Bento Box during lunch, and the Chicken Teriyaki is always luke-warm (pre-cooked). Other cooked items I've gotten there have been dry and pre-cooked as well. My preference in Kirkland is Salmon Creek (in Juanita Village) or Izumi (for Sushi).

After living in Kirkland for only 4 months, the only Bakery I've found is Hoffman's in the Parkplace Plaza (across from QFC, a few stores down from Starbuck's)
Hoffman's has excellent pastries, breads, and cakes. Which I believe, are all baked on site. They also serve coffee and espresso drinks.
There are a few small cafe tables to enjoy your treats.
Skip the grocery store, and treat yourself to high quality, fresh baked goods at Hoffman's.
