the staff is very friendly here, and it's so conveniently located that i can't imagine getting your nails done anywhere else. it's basically the best version of a generic nail salon - not too much...
the staff is very friendly here, and it's so conveniently located that i can't imagine getting your nails done anywhere else. it's basically the best version of a generic nail salon - not too much emphasis on decor or atmosphere or ambience, but certainly fast and effective service, and a pretty good track record on keeping the manicures and pedicures looking good for a while after they are applied (i've been to places where the polish starts to chip on the day after you go!). we came here with a wedding party of 8 people, and had a great, fast, relaxing time getting nails done before my best friend's wedding.

sometimes i would go into this store and be amazed at the high quality of the local artists that make the home decor and jewelry that this place sells - but other times, the selection would be rife with banal and repetitive work. i'm not sure whether it's because of how the owners stock the store, or whether it's that artists tend to migrate in and out of the area, but either way it's hard to either recommend or not recommend this place to others. i guess the best i can say is that it's a small store, right in the middle of the town, so it's worth a trip if you're looking for something unusual to give to someone.

i have super thick, super curly hair that can be blown straight well, but really requires someone to know what they're doing. i called here and requested an appointment with someone who knows curly hair, and was amazed to actually get an expert - not only did he work with curly hair, but his own was super curly as well and he blew it straight. he made me look fabulous, as if i were born with straight hair. never before nor ever since have i gotten as good a blow out as this guy was able to provide. amazing. plus, the prices are reasonable, and the highlights/cuts/waxing isn't too bad either.

i came here on a whim to look for wedding dresses - and ended up finding the perfect dress! the saleswomen were by far the best of any bridal place i've been to before or since - knowledgeable but not pushy, kind and attentive, and really just genuinely concerned with the way i would look at my wedding. they have top class gowns, so this place is definitely not somewhere to go for discount shopping, but that being said, they really tried hard to work with my exploding budget and to offer ways to cut the eventual cost of the dress (shipping it to me, for instance, to avoid sales tax). i also got a hair thing here which looked phenomenal as well.

my initial experience with this place was awful. i went in for highlights and the guy just painted them on with a brush (no tin foil). they came out weirdly chunky and not well spaced out, and generally looked bad. i was crying that night at home, and the next day went back and asked that they fix it. they were super nice about the whole thing, and the woman (i wish i could remember her name) did such an amazing job fixing it, that it ended up being the best color i've ever gotten! i went back to her to get highlights before my wedding, and i looked fantastic at the wedding. too bad we moved to philadelphia and i can't ever go back there.

the owner of this tiny boutique travels all around the world to collect and sell these amazing plates and serving dishes. they are all totally novel and unusual, but what they have in common is a distinctive modern aethetic of function, simplicity, beauty, high quality ceramics or glass, and a delicate tastefulness of design. trust me, no one will ignore any dish, vase, or platter from this store when they are at your house. going in there makes me want to buy everything. i wish it wasn't so expensive!

nothing is as confusing, frustrating, and generally dispiriting as realizing that you have to buy seventeen million things for the baby and have no idea of what the options are for any of them, nor what you should look for, since these are all items that you've never had to even think about before and they are supposed to protect/nurture/be comfortable for the most important thing in your life. this store is great because they have everything, and every version of everything, and the salespeople are knowledgeable and helpful without being at all pushy or condescending. we ended buying almost everything from here and not from one of those baby supermarts.

i've gotten gifts from here for adults and for kids, and everyone loves it - plus, it's great to come here when you're feeling depressed because the toys are ridiculously funny and will always cheer you right up. they have weird, non-mainstream, non-barbie figurines from japan and europe that look like they would be characters from some cartoon or comic book, but probably aren't. also, they have fun stuffed animals - those ugli dolls that everyone loves (i have two!) and others.
