This is the second time I've eaten Ezell's chicken and I was just as impressed as the first time. I ordered the original (vs. spicy) which still had some kick plus the mashed potatoes and sweet roll--all were delicious. The chicken was perfectly fried and the beautiful thing is that it doesn't even appear greasy. Ezell's is worth all the hype.

I went to Whole Foods in Ravenna to shop for my valentine's day dinner and it was a great experience. They merchandise the store in the most logical manner helping me to shop by course (appetizer, entree, dessert and wine) which is very useful especially when you don't have a solid plan in place as to what you need to buy. They always have ample staff on hand to answer questions and I find that the staff is passionate and knowledgeable about their product. The woman at the checkout commented on how good the wine I purchased was and that I was buying it at a really good price-this made me feel even better about my choices.
All in all, if quality and service are important to you, I recommend whole foods.

I recently dined at Troiani and left feeling relatively certain that I would not return. The atmosphere was mediocre. Located in a high rise building on 3rd and madison, the setting was not particularly warm or inviting. It also didn't help that the restaurant was only about 25% full on a Saturday before valentines day so clearly other people aren't flocking to Troiani. The service was top notch, what you'd expect from a Mackay restaurant. The food, while solid, was nothing special. The steak was well prepared but I'd rather go to the met or el gaucho if I really want steak and the italian spin wasn't strong enough to deter me from going to IL Bistro or IL Terrazzo carmine. All in all, the mackay brothers have hit home runs with El Gaucho and The Waterfront but their third attempt doesn't quite hit the mark.

Sometimes the wait to get to see a doctor is so long that a nurse practitioner is the way to go. I recently visited Stephanie Padilla for a routine yearly physical and was very pleased with her. She was both thorough and efficient stopping to ask if I had any questions or general health concerns. During the actual examination she was careful to explain what she was about to do before she did it which makes for a very comfortable visit--especially for new patients.
Also, the facility was very convenient offering discounted parking ($4 for 2 hours) for patients at the clinic and when I asked for a derm referral, she filled out the paperwork and said they would contact me which I thought was nice as it's usually the other way around.

Because it's just down the street from my house, I really really wanted to love the flower lady but just this week I had two bad experiences that will now force me to patronize another flower shop.
The first time I went in during the week and was really turned off by the selection. Most of the flowers seemed to be on their last days but sadly the prices didn't reflect that. I was desperate though so I paid $32 for a small bouquet of snap dragons.
Later that same week I found myself in need of a housewarming gift and again visited the flower lady only be disappointed and also frustrated. The shop was busy (3-4 customers deep) and while I normally am patient especially when I could see there was only one staff to help, I quickly became frustrated when she was so very disorganized. She tried to deal with multiple customers at one time instead of finishing up efficiently with each one. As a result most of us were standing around waiting for the answer to a question, a receipt or to be helped in the first place. Total chaos.
If the selection or price was better, I might consider giving this shop another try but unfortunately I'll have to find a new flower lady.

It's clean, quiet and always seems empty. I joined pro club in November after having been a member of 24 hour fitness for years. While the downtown 24hour isn't a bad option, pro club offers so many more ammenities. A full spa, a PT office (import for me since I'm injury bound), towel service and great locker room facilities including a hot tub, sauna and steam room. The only draw back is that the Seattle location does not have a pool. The Bellevue location does but you need to pay more to get the all club membership. Oh, and they have a parking garage that's always free! If you have a busy schedule and working out downtown is convenient for you, then pro club is the way to go.

I've been going to spa envy off and on for the past year and think they are a solid choice for a nail salon. They offer multiple services including some simple massage but I recommend sticking to their core comptencies of manicures and pedicures. The spa pedicure is about 45 minutes and includes a leg massage as well as all the usual nail cleaning, buffing and polishing while sitting in the ever comfortable massage chair. It's $27 plus tip. They also offer an express pedi which is $22 but the extra $5 is worth it just to sit in the comfy chair and for the massage benefits.

Upon reading a review on another website--I ventured to this pizza place and was mostly disappointed that I made the effort. The lunch specials were unusually cheap ($5 for soup and salad or $6 for salad and pizza) which should have tipped me off. The italian salad I got was drenched in water and then in oil and vinegar along with other typical toppings. The pizza was fair--thin crust and fresh tomato sauce but nothing to get excited about. The staff was friendly but inaccurate telling my friend that the small salad was enormous when really it was just a side salad. All in all, this is a place to skip unless you've a hankering for mediocre cheap pizza.

The Black Bottle--Belltown's newest culinary addition is a winner. While they don't take reservations (a dissapointment when you travel in larger groups), they were able to accommodate our party of 7 after only about 15 minutes at 7pm on a Friday night--not bad. The restaurant offers a selection of small plates all at $8. We were advised to order only 1/person plus one by our waiter. This was completely off. We ended up ordering about 2/person plus dessert (perhaps we're big eaters?).
Our favorites were the Pork Tenderloin, the steak and the Bechamel & Prosciutto flat bread. Don't bother with the squid, clams or mussels. The Tiramisu and Bananas Flambe were also a tasty way to finish up the meal. The drawback--the staff. The waiter seemed to forget about us several times and the bartender did not feel that courtesy was part of her job description. Other than that--a good first impression, we'll be back.

I dined for the second time at Crow and was as impressed as the first go round at this Queen Anne trendy restaurant. I didn't make a reservation so just showed up and was able to eat at the bar which offered the full menu. The restaurant offers 3 seating areas--the main dining room, the kitchen bar (stools overlooking the kitchen) and the bar (stools overlooking the bar area). The food was great---cured meat selection was a solid starter, followed by the pear & Roquefort cheese salad. We had the duck and steak; the steak was very tender for a NY strip with lots of flavor. We finished off with the trio of chocolate dessert of which the pots de creme was our favorite. Additionally the wine list is nice as they have lots of great options for >$40. Finally, I thought everyone from the Host to bartender were very friendly, helpful and professional. This is worth a visit if you haven't been already.
