The Majestic Bay is a new, state-of-the-art tribute to the original Bay (1915) with one huge screen downstairs and two normal ones upstairs.
It is a great neighborhood cinema and is centrally located in Ballard (on Market Street).
Than Bros Pho is right across the street and Ben & Jerry's is next door - perfect for those who like to eat before and after a movie.
La Carta de Oaxaca (excellent) and good Thai, Tex-Mex, Indian, and other restaurants are also within five minutes walk.

Excellent Question.
Here are a few to add to the list:
* Myrtle Edwards Park / Elliot Bay - also great for bikes
* Golden Gardens for the views and people watching
* Alki
* Discovery Park - also great to run or bike
* The waterfront for great tourist-watching and views
don't miss piers 57 - 59
* Walk onto the Bainbridge ferry and explore Winslow
* Soon - the Olympic Sculpture Park
* Carkeek Park
* Seward Park and Greenlake have great loops for
feet, bikes, skates, strollers - just about anything
* Queen Anne: Start at Macrina bakery & cafe, watch
the Olympics from 7th & 8th West (Olmsted
boulevards) to Kerry Park on Highland for postcard
views of downtown and Rainier, Trader Joes for a
snack and then around Bigelow for a view-ful loop.
* Pike Place Market for great people watching
* Seattle Center
* Gasworks Park
* Lincoln Park
* Woodland Park Zoo
These are a few places off the top of my head. I would love to hear from others. We live in an ideal city for this and I would like to take more advantage.
Check out the Seattle website for parks, events, etc. http://www.seattle.gov/html/VISITOR/culture.htm

Threading is a simple form of hair removal that is better for your skin than waxing and I personally think it is less painful.
Why have someone apply hot wax to your skin and then rip it off when you can get the same results with a simple spool of thread and a bit of skill?
Threading is the norm in South Asia, where waxing is generally reserved for really large areas, like legs.
Also, you can do threading even if you are taking antibiotics or any other medications that do too much harm to your skin to allow for waxing. Threading does not lead to any issues with redness, rashes, etc.
Because it requires more skill, and is not commonly taught at US-based beauty schools, it is harder to find people who thread than wax.
I have heard rumors of a fantastic place for threading in Kent, but am not sure which one.
I went to Salon Image in Uptown (base of Queen Anne). She was good. I would go again.

We bought a bed and some chairs from the Kasala outlet in SoDo. We like the bed and the chairs, but only because the price for the bed was fair and the chairs were a steal. The prices at their full-price stores are generally too high for the quality. The quality of most items is probably comparable to the mall stores like Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn.
If you are going to spend a lot on furniture, look at McKinnon or even the Fine Furniture Gallery (both in Seattle's furniture district on Western Avenue). At these places you pay high prices for really high-quality furniture and great service.
I do like the little things at Kasala, though. They sell a bunch of fun little items in the under $50 range - good gifts.
The Kasala outlet has some good items for those who like modern furniture. Like most true outlets, the selection is hit and miss, but at least you pay a fair price (or better) for the furniture.
The guy who runs the place is really nice and not the least bit snooty. The prices are appropriate for the quality. Sometimes, there are some great deals.
Just don't go on Monday or Tuesday.

They were recommended to me, so maybe we just got them on a bad day. But it was a bad day, indeed.

Dana's is a referral service for house cleaners (actually, these folks with do anything reasonable, like help you unpack, wait for the cable guy, or do laundry and/or ironing). They are pretty inexpensive - about $75 or $80 for four hours. (The price depends on how often they come.)
A friend of mine told me that she had tried all the major services and some independent cleaners. She said that Dana's had both the best prices and best service of all the places she had tried. So I called them.
The way they work is that they send somebody to your house. You either meet the person or leave a note listing your priorities. Then the person from Dana's calls to see whether you want that person to return.
Although people certainly vary, most of their cleaners are very good. The ones who are not so great do not last long. I have only had one sub-par cleaner. She was fine. I just felt like she could have done more. They have sent me five or ten cleaners and all the others were good.
The other advantage is that, if your cleaner moves on to a different career, Dana's will find you a replacement instantly. Also, you can always call and cancel or add a service. If I hired someone directly, I would not feel as free to play around with the schedule.
The person who cleans our house now is great, but she is fully booked.
I have never used any other cleaning service, but I have been very happy with Dana's.
If you do call them, I would appreciate if you would tell them that Corinne D. recommended them.
