I am sure the architect of this place meant for it to be a crazy maze where you would have to walk by eveyr shop to find your way out of here ... kind of like an IKEA. Having said that, Horton Plaza offere a nice array of shops. I have found staff at this center to be helpful. You get a couple of hours of free parking with validation. If you have some other shopping to do in the Gaslamp, park at the centers garage and then pick up some gum or a greeting card at Long's (on the bottom level near the Starbucks) to get validated. Happy Shopping!

They do not take credit cards, so be sure to bring your cash or checkbook. Also, the don't open until 8 on weekdays, which I find a little suprising. Bring the pooch and grab a table out front. Parking is easy on the weekends, since it shares spaces with the bank.

I was in the area for a work meeting and I decided to stop in this location for lunch. I had heard of this chain, but I had never been in one. Wow, the breads were amazing looking. I ended up getting a sandwich, it was very tasty. The other baked goods looked equally tempting. I saw quite a few people hanging out with laptops ... so i assume they offer free Wi-fi. Parking is easy at this location. Worth checking out!

This Bookstar location is in an old theater. Lots of books to choose from ... duh! But what I like about this location is the racks of great greeting cards they have. Lots of unique one. Also they have a nice assortment of handsome journals and notebooks. I often stop in here to pick up gifts. I believe they are a division of Barnes and Noble. You can purchase a membership card which will give you a year's worth of discounts. It's a great value if you purchase a lot of books. This location also has story time for kids. Call the store to get the current schedule. Parking is easy at this location.

I can here for an opening reception for a conference I was attending. We had access to a few of the gallery rooms. Some of the art was interesting, but some of it was the kind you look at and say ... "I could have made that". Alas, I didn't make it, and therefore I am not an artist hanging in this museum. Ok, that aside, the faciltiy is nice for a cocktail reception. The main reception room flows out onto a terrace so you can get some nice air. The catering we had was great. Not sure if it is associated with the museum specifically or if it was a local catering company. I peeked in the gallery gift shop and there were lots of tempting items.

I stayed at this property for a conference. The location offers a short drive to a lot of great shopping opportunities and cute little areas of coastal Orange County. That aside, I did have some problems. I reserved a double room with patio or balcony. The first room they gave to me was a double, but did not have a patio or balcony. I went back to the desk, they apologized and assigned me a new room. This one was not a double. I had to return to the front desk AGAIN to let them know it was not the correct type of room. The third one ended up being correct. Still it was a lot of frustration after a long days drive to get here. Also, the ATM machine did not function during my whole stay ... and there was no easy place to walk to for cash. Front desk said they would cash a personal check for me .... however I never travel with my check book.
I will say that the catering staff was great for our event. They were professional and did their job great, without being disruptive to the key note speakers.

Mrs. Burton's Tea Room is tucked into an old Victoria in Old Town. I came here with my mother and mother-in-law for a good old fashioned tea. We got unlimited tea and a tiered tower of finger sandwiches and nibble sweets ... enought to leave full. There are lot of hats and boas that you can wear to make your experience even more memorable. I believe reservations are required. This is also a popular spot for baby showers too.

Mission Trails is a great place to visit when you want to get out of the City but not drive too far. The interpretive center is small but modern and can also be reserved for events for non profit organizations. There is a small amphitheater outside where they will have talks and presentations. There are several trails to get your legs moving. Great for the whole family as well. Check it out.

I've been with Kaiser for most of my life and have been consistently pleased with the care I have received. I've had possitive experiences with the Point Loma clinic (primary care and lab) and also the Zion Medical Offices (Ear/Nose/Thorat, Audiology and the Radiology departments). It is fairly easy to switch your primary care provider incase you are not "clicking" with the one you initially select or assigned too.

A community college is just that ... a college that serves the community. I took a ceramics class here and was impressed with the facilities as well as the small class size. San Diego City College is a great place if you are looking to get your GE out of the way before transfering to a four-year, or if you are a new/returning student just looking for some enrichment. Good teacher to student ratios.
