We recently tried the Bungalow for a special occasion dinner. The restaurant is set in a cozy cottage with three small dining rooms. When I called to make reservations, the hostess asked if we were celebrating a special event. I told her it was my husband's birthday. She said they do a nice little dessert for special occasions. Wow! Off on the right foot and we haven't even got there yet.
The setting is cozy and mainly 40's and up crowd. We were a little on the young side. It may have been because we were dining on the early side too. Anyway. we started with the crabcakes appetizer, which was excellent. I had soup, my husband a salad. Both were flavorful. For our entree, I had the salmon and my husband had the duck with the spicy glaze. Both were excellent!
The staff were right on the mark, from the hostess, to the server to the busser. All were attentive, but not intrusive. It's a delight to have well-trained staff.
Thee Bungalow has an extensive winelist, but we opted for wines by the glass. Parking in the adjacent gravel lot can be a bit tight, but there is ample parking at RobB Field, right next door.

I recently stayed at this property for a work training. There are two buildings associated with this hotel, I stayed in the main building. There is a swimming pool, hot tub, lounge, restaurant and lots of tables to sit and relax. When we checked in we were give two complimentary drink coupons. Additionally, there is a full buffet breakfast that is free to guests. It included egss, breakfast meats, potatos, fruit, muffins and pastries as well as several types of cereal. I found the staff to be very helpful as well.
This hotel is loctated right by the John Wayne (Orange County) airport, so it's convenient if you need to catch a flight as well. Highly recommended.

This is a great place to escape the summer heat. Lots of different water attractions to satisfy the whole family. There is a wave pool, floating/lazy river, wild tube rides and more. My complaint is that the food options are pretty limited. Better to pack your own picnic and enjoy it out in the car during a break. The park has lots of lounge chairs so you can relax as well. Check the webpage for specials. Season passes are also available if you are a water park junky!

I visited Palomar Mountain State Park for the first time this past weekend. We went camping at Doane Valley campground. This is a small campground (30 spaces) with special sites for RVs. I suggest getting a space in 9 - 12, which is off a little spur and separate/more private from the rest of the camping area. Hot showers (25 cents for 2 minutes) and flush toilets. There is a small pond where you can fish (license required) and plenty of hiking trails. You can reserve a space through reserveusa.com. Remember to bring the bug spray and fixin's for smores.
Great views: don't forget to drive to the Boucher Point look out, You will get amazing views of the Rincon Valley!

The lunch specials rock! Ranging from 5.95 to 8.95, they include soup, mini salad, wontons and little rolls as well as your main dish. I've had the basil dish and the pad thai and have been happy with both. They do get very crowded at lunch, but if you get there around 11:30, they will definately get you in and out in under an hour.
Nice interior decor and generally friendly wait staff. The lunch time hostess used to be a bit cold, but she is becoming more friendly.

This is the place we continually return to when we are craving yummy thai food and don't want to drive far. Located in a non-descript strip mall on Midway Drive, the service is always friendly and fast. Favorites include fresh spring rolls (with tofu), hot pot soups, pad thai and any of the curries. Great thai iced tea as well. Decor is nothing to write home about, but the food makes up for that!
Plenty of free parking right infront of the store. They also do take out.

I recently used Super Shuttle of Sacramento to transfer from the airport to the DoubleTree Hotel. Super Shuttle maintains a kiosk at the airport where you can book your ticket. I found the counter staff to be helpful and the driver was also very curteous. Most importantly, he was a safe driver. Nothing like having a crazy drive to make your vacation less than relaxing. The interior of the vans were clean and comfortable and with powerful A/C. I would definatley use them again if I needed their services in Sacramento.

I recently stayed at the Double Tree Sacramento for a work training. Overall I had a positive experience. I had a late check-in and the front desk person immediately made me feel welcome and even gave me a warm cookie to greet me. That was much appreciate after a long day of travel.
The room are a bit dated, but have all the necessary amenities. Comfy bed with good sheets, TV, work desk with good lighting, comfy chair with ottoman and a supply of Neutrogena toiletries. This place also has two on-site restaurants, a pool, and spa, though I did not try and of these features.
I saw families, couples and even two wedding parties staying at this facility, so it would cater to all ages. Definately worth a shot of you need to stay in this area of Sacramento.
Note: The hotel does not have a shutttle, you will need to arrange transportation from the airport via Super Shuttle (kiosk at airport) or taxi.
