but in a good way. Scrap Happy has just about anything that you could want for scrapbooking or paper crafts. They have an entire wall (and then some) of rolls of stickers in any theme and collection that you can possibly imagine. They have stacks and stacks of papers in all colors and patterns and themes, of course. They offer classes and crops. Prices are a little higher than you would find at other local craft stores, but it's a specialty shop, locally run, so it's worth it.

Skeie's offers exceptional quality jewelry. This is the place you want to go for important events like engagements, weddings, etc, where your rings will not only be jewelry but heirlooms. The staff was attentive, but not pushy. As said in other reviews, they will always inspect and clean rings for free. Their store in Oakway is so much classier than the one they had at Valley River Center. Great move.

Parties to Go is a great place with which to work if you are doing a large formal, or not so formal event, where you need to rent tables, chairs, tents, etc. They are geared toward these specialties and have tons of accessories in their store to appeal to all styles. Their prices for general party supplies, plates, cups, kids birthday items, etc. are quite high. I wouldn't shop there for general party goods.
They have in the past also rented costumes, which is a good thing to know. You never know when you need a duck or gorilla costume!

Cravings catered my wedding several years ago and did a wonderful job. They grilled salmon on site and brought additional main courses. They have a large menu of high quality items. They are well equipped to do weddings, parties and events of all sizes. Costs were quite high for the wedding, but some of that was based on choices, I suppose. Owners are devoted to their business.

Chรขteau Lorane is a beautiful venue for an outdoor wedding. Right on the bank of Lake Louise, it's secluded and charming and naturally beautiful. There is a very small indoor area, and nice covered patio, but for a good sized wedding, you'd want to rent tents, just in case it's very hot or rainy. They have nice wines which you purchase, but they don't serve other alcohol (at least not when I was married). The staff was somewhat difficult, condescending and charged enormous amounts for routine clean-up. (I believe their are or will be new owners soon). Given the limited venues in the area, it's definitely a great choice.

The YMCA has been here for a LONG time and is in desperate need of remodeling. However, they offer a huge variety of programs for adults and kids, lots of fitness classes, and childcare. Kids enrolled in the daycare programs can take swimming lessons. There are great camps during the summers.
The locker rooms need a big overhaul. Showers are moldy and there are cracked tiles and rust all over the place.
It's not cheap either, for a single adult it runs around $50/month which is close to the same price as some of the "nicer" clubs.
Great location for South Eugene dwellers, which is one reason we belong.

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is leaps and bounds above the "old" museum. Some of the best changes were made in the educational realm. The renovation included a huge area for class trips or workshops/classes. Several times a year they host a family day. We've gone to two of them and they are fabulous. Lots of activities for the whole family, puppet shows, etc. Parking can be a hassle but it's definitely worth it to take advantage of the new museum.

The Stewart Aquatic Center (formly Easter Seals) is open to the public now. The great thing about this pool is the temperature. I believe it's in the 90s which means that small children and even infants aren't shivering while swimming or taking lessons. That is a huge bonus. It's also great for aching muslces and joints. It's a little too warm for a true aerobic workout, but Four Winds offers classes including AquaYoga which is fantastic.

Ruth's has a great selection of hard to find sizes, nursing bras and post surgical garments. They do a lot of bridal fittings, since it's important to have a perfectly fitting undergarment. Prices can be kind of high, but quality is good. Be prepared to be poked and prodded, some of the staff really "go to town" in their fittings and if you are at all modest, make sure and tell them upfront, not to grab and maneuver you. It's only done in a way to ensure the best fit, but it certainly makes some people uneasy. They definitely know their undergarments!

Lone Pine Farm has so much more than just fresh produce. It's a great place to bring little kids. They have a nice play structure and picnic area. Farm animals include goats, that you can feed, sheep, pigs, chickens, miniature horse, llamas, cows, horses, etc. In the fall, there are rides to the pumpkin patch and corn mazes. It can be really crowded at times. The locally grown produce is great, but not always so cheap. They also import other produce which is sold at the store onsite.
