My husband and I recently moved here and left behind an amazing stylist in L.A. After trying a few over-priced and mediocre places around town, we came upon Level 4 through Citysearch. We had no idea if the reviews were accurate but after two wonderful experiences with Claudia, I concur with other positive comments here. Claudia is fantastic. Not only is she a nice person, she listens which is a rare commodity. More importantly, she has the talent and skill to deliver the cut. My husband's hair still looks great, a month later, and I walked out with a style nearly identical to what I had envisioned. The salon itself is comfortable and unpretentious, but the attitude is nothing short of professional. We will both be back and are grateful to have found a place we like so much in our new town.

I moved to SF from Chicago and was in desparate need of a stylist more than 6 years ago. My entire family is in the hair business, in the midwest, so I know what to look for. Glenda at Acabello Salon was the answer. She is a talented stylist and colorist (finding both skill sets in one person is rare). Her creativity is boundless making it easy to make style changes and not get stuck in a hair holding pattern. I keep her cards in my purse becasue so many people ask me about my cut, color or both.

I went to one of the 'top' stylists for color & was quite disappointed. I have naturally mahogany dark hair; I had lightened it & just wanted to go back to natural. I was nervous someone would douse it with tar-black & wanted my natural brown so I thought I'd pay more for subtlety. $95 & 3 hours of pretentious fussing later, I had...yes...tarrish looking hair with very little natural light or reflection in it. And this after enduring protein mixes, 'light' sprays & long-winded hair chemistry explanations. I’m quite confident I could find a similar black on the shelf at Walgreens. All of the negatives of a fancy place (pretentiousness, heavy product pushing, very $$, long wait) without even decent results. (oh, and sanitation concerns...no bathroom sink???)

I went to spa bar for some eyebrow and waxing services. The eyebrows were good however the cosmetologist completely missed waxing a spot on my upper lip (which I didn't notice until I got home because their service rooms are so dark). I also felt I got a half-way eyelash tint (for $35) because she didn't leave the dye on long enough. I for one am really tired of san francisco establishments that try to act hipper than thou without delivering on quality. Sure they have a nice facility and location but a bunch of candles and aromatherapy does not make up for mediocre services. I've had better lip waxes for $7 and theirs was $25.

After living in LA for 14 years and having my tresses contrived into various unflattering yet hip styles, I decided it was time to move to a place where organic pumpkin seeds are more important than getting your roots done. This place made feel right at home and gave me a natural yet funky cut for a great price - the perfect fusion. Ask for Anee and tell her to make you over once and for all. Tell her you are ready to start living again...she'll get it.

After 5 years of being bummed not having a decent hair place, I have finally found a place, and stylist I can count. I see Premstar and Ocean and I love them both! They have helped me transition my cut from short, long bangs, etc. and my hair color from black to natural. Some might say that it is expensive, but I work it into my budget, and it is more than worth it. It seems that all the stylists her are very good at what they do. The girls always listen, and offer advice on how my texture will work with certain cuts or styles. I highly recommend Festoon to anyone who wants to have a place to rely on, they really know what they are doing. Plan you appointment out two months ahead of time, they book up fast!

"Super sexy" is what I've been told of my new hair style. Easy to mantain and even looks great when I wake up. My cut has subtle bangs that fall in just the right places in front of my eyes. I know it was done on purpose, based on my face shape, but it sure looks unintentional and natural. And the layers make my hair move in ways I've never had it before. I feel like I never want this cut to grow out. I'll be sure to go back again. I also got a live enzyme treatment with my shampoo and I do feel it made a difference in my hair's health. Feels and looks great.
