The Charcoal Grill was my first stop when I went to Jacksonville for the first time. It is a little stand right on the edge of Jarrettsville Pike with picnic tables available for seating. They have the best pit beef sandwiches in the Jacksonville area. Just recently Charcoal Grill was bought by someone and renamed "Jack's Shack". The prices have gone up now that there is a new owner and the feeling as a whole has disappeared for those who used to go to the Charcoal Grill all of the time. It's lost it's meaning to my group of friends, but maybe it will be a good first experience for others!

Nina's Tailoring is run by Nina who is a fabulous tailor. Her office space is on the small side and I'm serious about the small part! But she does a great job. No appointment is needed. Just walk in and put on whatever it is that needs to be tailored and she will measure and send you on your way with a receipt. She gets a lot of business so the pickup date is usually at least 4 days after drop off. Her prices are great as well. Use Nina!

The Pizza Connection is my favorite place to have carry out pizza. Their pizza is so delicious and the prices are awesome! They were the only pizza place that delivered to my house and that's how i discovered them. However, once gas prices began rising like crazy they cut out some of their delivery routes. I still carry out the pizza because it is so good.

Roma's Carry Out offers a variety of foods such as subs, pizza, appetizers, and more. Their prices are excellent. The food is not to the level of amazing, but it's a great place to stop if you need a quick lunch or dinner. Their western fries are however very very good! Roma's Carry Out is a right at the edge of Sweet Air Rd which makes it very convenient for their customers.

I go to the Recher once a year just before Christmas to see my friends from high school play. Their band, Hard, opens for the local Baltimore band Plunge. They play every year around the same time. Tickets for the show are only $5 however there is another $5 fee if you are under 21. I'm not sure why people under 21 have to pay but people over 21 don't have to and they are the ones drinking. It made me pretty made last time I went. They guy checking id's was pretty rude too. The theatre is not sit down if that's what you're thinking. It has been the location of several small music performances before they got big. Check out the Recher's website for a list of upcoming shows.

The Hippodrome is Baltimore's newest theater and is the location of most shows these days. I have only been once but am going again for a second time in February. We had to wait in the lobby before the doors were opened to the actual theater part. But there were several benches along the wall which were nice to sit on and just look around at the new building. They were selling merchandise for the artist who I was there to see as well as sodas and light snacks. The actual theater is beautiful. We were seated in the very back but there is still a nice view from back there. It's smaller than the Lyric theater but still gives a great experience for any show!

Henry's is a great place for everyone! The food and environment is more elegant than lets say Applebees, but you can dress semi-casual. I recommend either the calamari or the bacon-wrapped scallops for an appetizer (I usually do both!) Their burgers are simple yet delicious. They have fancier foods such as the black chicken linguine and others. The bar at Henry's is the hot spot for several Jacksonville parents on Friday nights. Henry's is a small, great place to have dinner every now and then!

Padonia Station is most famous for it's Monday night wing night which I believe is 25 cents per wing. The wings are delicious, however I always go with a less messy selection, the Bacon Cheeseburger which comes with the best french fries or the Chesapeake wrap which is to die for! It's really fun to go to Padonia Station with a large group of people, they are used to accommodating such groups. Padonia Station has a bar and billiards for your wait to be seated. (Hint: get there a little earlier than you're planned meeting time with a large group to start a wait...it's not bad at all!) Padonia Station also offers carryout which I use frequently!

The Nautilus Diner is a great stop after a late night when you're craving a chocolate milkshake or anything for that matter. I personally love Nautilus' mozzarella sticks, desserts, and milkshakes. My boyfriend loves the Eggs Benedict. So whenever we go we wind up with a random selection of food and you wouldn't know if it were breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The service at Nautilus is terrific. The servers are extremely friendly. You can easily point out Nautilus. It is the big diner off of York Rd just South of the York and Timonium intersection and it is very lite.

I went to Charm City Run just before Christmas to buy a pair of running gloves for my Dad. I had no idea what kind to get and the employee working that night was very helpful. He chose two different brands of gloves and gave me his opinion on each and told me that they were currently the two most popular gloves. The store was filled with mainly running apparel, but also had water bottles, a list of local races, and bumper stickers. Charm City is located off of York Rd and the entrance is no on York Rd but in the back of the store. Great store, service, prices, everything!
