These guys were pretty good, near the top of the pack in the list of salons I visited. The store is laid out nicely, with double racks of dresses in a big circle around a "runway" staging area. They had a good range of prices, from a few hundred up to a few thousand; most of what I liked turned out to be in the $1400 range.
While friendly, the two saleswomen I worked with seemed to only partly know the stock and stumbled a bit when asked to bring a few more dresses that matched my request. I visited once and wrote down a style number, and when I came back with my mom a week later and asked to show her the gown, they acted somewhat put out. The original salesperson wasn't there, you see, and they'd have to go find the dress by hand, by looking at all of the labels.
My small complaints aside, La Belle Elaine's is well worth a visit. They carry a big selection of gowns. Their prices are fair. Their dressing rooms are large, well-lit and laid out like small lounges. They have a very good accessories selection. I would definitely add them to your list of stores to visit.

Of all the places I shopped for gowns, Amanda's was my favorite in all categories. They have an excellent selections of gowns at extremely reasonable prices. I found myself only finding one or two "OK" gowns at other salons, but at Amanda's I wanted to try on everything and they kept bringing out more dress suggestions that were right in line with what I requested.
It's a small shop. Their try-on rooms and their staging area are modest, but they more than make up for it it in the quality of their merchandise, their wide accessories selection, their knowledgeable and charming advice, and their impeccable service from start to finish.
I highly recommend them.

My experience in one try-on session was fine. The woman helping me was courteous, pleasant, and helpful. As far as bridal salon experiences go, it wasn't anything special. The dressing rooms were dark and small, and they have maybe two racks of gowns to choose from. They stocked very few accessories.
They did have a good selection of high-end designer gowns. The two I liked were $3600 and $5100. I didn't see anything under $2K. But I was just shopping for "a gown" in general, not a particular designer, and I certainly wasn't planning on spending nearly that much. I was slightly irked at the beginning when they asked for my budget, but I can see that as a business necessity for their niche market.

The U district market has a little of everything...veggies, flowers, veggies, cheese, seafood, beef, pastries, nuts, berries, seedlings, and honey. It's a friendly and easy-to-get to market, with well-loved vendors who've been there for years.
My favorites:
Taylor Shellfish for fresh oysters and clams. They occasionally have geoducks and even rare olympica oysters. Also try their pre-made Oyster Stew Mix...good for instant oyster stew and great tossed with warm pasta and butter.
Papa George Albacore. Best smoked alabacore in town! Garlic pepper is my favorite. Get a piece with belly meat for the most flavor.
Port Madison Farm--best chevre I've ever had in my life. Really. They sell it in local grocery stores for a $2 markup, but it's at it's freshest and cheapest directly from the owner in this market.
Peggi's organica. Peggi makes some strange, dense, indestructible loaves of organic bread. Surprisingly, they're really really good and they keep for a week on the counter. DEFINITELY try any pastries she's made, especially the lemon bars.
La Pazanella Bakery. Get one of their tomato-topped "pizettes" and see if you can keep from eating the entire thing in one sitting. It's a perfect appetizer for any meal. Their rosemary crackers are fabulous (and cheaper here than in Whole Foods.)
So much good stuff. Enjoy!

Having tried all of the recommended “new york pizza” restaurants in Seattle, I can confirm that no, there is no good NY-style pizza to be had here. Sure, there’s stuff that can kill a craving, but there’s nothing close to the real thing.
The real thing can be had, however, at #1 New York Pizza in Clearview. This little tiny place is owned by Tony and Relita, a retired couple from Queens. Relita is charming and hospitable, and Tony is doggedly guarding the western frontier of New York pizzeria tradition. #1NY’s pizzas have a crisp chewy crust, flat slices with whole milk mozarella, perfect tomato sauce, traditional toppings, and the right amount of genuine pizza grease. Tony’s white pizza is outstanding. Get a calzone to take home. They also make handmade cannolis, made to order on the spot.
The pizzeria is a few miles north of Snohomish in a tiny tiny tiny little shop. Take I-405 to SR-522 east, then exit to US-9 northbound and go a few miles until you see the stop light for 180th. (Really. I know it looks like the middle of nowhere.) Right after that, look for the green Produce sign by the road and turn right into the parking lot. If you’ve ever been to the Maltby cafe, this is just a few miles away.
Whatever you do, don’t ever, ever ask for pineapple.

Top Nails is an all-around good nail salon with very reasonable prices. Great manicures, pedicures, and acrylic work. Where they really stand out is in two areas. One, their lead technician Anh (Ann) is excellent. She does acrylic nails so thin and so well that people don't even believe that they're fake, even after examining them up close. Second, Top Nails doesn't charge any extra for doing an air-brushed French manicure, which looks a lot sharper and lasts a lot longer than painted-on. All that, and free parking at Larry's. They're terrific.
