I love Fromage. It has gourmet food items and the most extensive collection of cheeses I have ever seen.
I walked in there a couple days ago to get some cheese for a cheese party. I simply asked the lady behind the counter for 5 delicious cheeses I had never tried before. She asked me what I have tried before, then took out cheese after cheese offering me tastes. I ended up with a soft-ripened German blue cheese, French compte, French soft muenster, an extra-sharp English cheddar, Italian hard cow cheese similar to parmagiano reggiano. All unique, all delicious.
And since they also sell gourmet food including breads and crackers, I was all set for acoutrements.
Even if you're not in the mood for cheese, they have pates, teas, coffees, bottled sauces, jellies, spices, chocolates, non-alcoholic beverages like limonade, fancy pastas, and so much more. It's a food lover's delight.

When my husband and I finally got around to trying it out one Wednesday night, we were incredibly disappointed. The service was slow, the space was cramped, the house wine was undrinkably bad, and the waiter kept touching my husband's shoulder in a very "buddy-buddy" manner that assumed way too much.
The food was fine (when we finally got it), but that made up for nothing. This was the worst dining experience I have had around here. We will never go there again.

I have now visited Oolongs and was impressed with their wide selection of exotic loose teas. I didn't order anything to eat/drink while I was there, but I walked away with 3 different new teas that I had never heard of before: Golden Monkey, Amber Dragon, and Lapacho. They have dozens of little jars on the wall available for you to sniff to pick out which ones you want. I sniffed them all. Fun!

Great place if you want to grab a quick bite. They have a wide variety of delicious noodle dishes, something for everyone. It'll likely take you longer to decide what you want than it'll take for them to make it for you and bring it out.
As a bonus, they have that yummy tea with tapioca pearls at the bottom. It's pretty rare to see that in New Haven.

This cafe is located in a beautifully restored 200-yr-old home in downtown Clinton. The lovely European couple who owns the place restored it themselves and dotted the walls with Sarba's maritime art (for sale). There is also beautiful amber and silver jewelry scattered around in glass cases. The food is fine, a mix of salads and baked goods, but you're really there for the ambiance. The Sarba's are very friendly and will answer any questions you have about the house or the art.
You can find out more on their website http://www.sarba.com

You can eat at a table in the cafe area or lounge around on the comfy chairs in the library/living room setup. All in all, a nice place to hang out and enjoy.

This place has it all: delicious food, good wine list, friendly & efficient waitstaff, and nice atmosphere. Since they're so new (opened late 2004), they're still tweaking the details, but it's all good. Favorite dishes include: best calamari I've ever had, goat cheese ravioli, lobster-stuffed artichoke, fantastic duck, and oh the desserts.
There is outdoor seating, though we haven't yet been there on a night when it would be warm enough to sit outside.
Ever since they received their "very good" review by the New York Times, they're packed. So I'd recommend a reservation even in the middle of the week.

I went into this office not knowing if I even needed to get my wisdom teeth out and, frankly, nervous about the whole thing. I'd never had surgery of any kind before, never been under anesthesia. Dr. Parker educated me as to why I'd have my teeth out and soothed my fears. He had this calm manner that put me immediately at ease.
The surgery itself went smoothly. I only had 3 teeth to remove and he got them all with no fishing around in the space where the 4th tooth would have been had it existed. I woke up as if no time had passed, took my post-surgery care instructions sheet, then spent the rest of the week watching movies on the couch and eating soup.
I came in for a follow up visit because one of the teeth holes was being difficult (dry socket) and the other doctor in the office put in a cure that was worse than the problem. This stuff he put in my mouth tasted so horrible! But he took it right out when I didn't like it and gave me more pain killers instead. All in all, it worked out just fine.

Taste of China has a huge menu including all the usual staples, but they specialize in Szechuan cuisine. My first few times there, the incredibly helpful and opinionated waitress helped us choose the fantastic items from the merely good. My favorites include: ginger string beans, scallops and/or crispy shrimp with szechuan flavor (spicy!), mongolian beef, hot and sour soup, szechuan duck pancakes (like mu shu), crispy whole fish. Yum! There is also a wide selection of beer - try the Ommegang.
This isn't a place for General Tso's chicken, though they do serve it. It's a place to broaden your Chinese food horizons.
