What's better than falling into a beanbag chair and listening to a good story? Storyopolis knows that the way to get kids to love books is to make reading fun.
Inside, everything is bright and colorful. Lots of toys and fun items to look at besides a great selection of books. All the books are easy to access and inviting.
For nursing moms, there are lots of comfy chairs so that's a big plus. Many bookstores have taken out seating to put in more shelves. A big mistake in this Mom's opinion.
Most of my favorite books were found by reading them first in the store and then taking them home with me. Now that the chain stores have discouraged in-store reading, it's nice to find a place like Storyopolis where they actually encourage you to stay for a while.
Bottomline: A great place for energetic kids and tired Moms, encourages reading the old fashioned way.

This place is more for schmoozing and faux golf than anything a real duffer would enjoy. A short par 3 course, it's cheap and... well, it's cheap!
Tidy and well maintained, the course is perfect for people who can't get away to a more challenging course. Since it's located near Hollywood, B or C list celebrity sitings are de rigeur for this place, especially at the snack bar or on the driving range.
This is a great starter course for the beginning golfer who might be nervous about trying 18 holes, and since you can usually walk on it's a good place to unwind with a lunch game if you've had a stressful morning.
It's also a cute place to take kids to learn since the holes are not difficult and won't have them leaving in tears.
The nutshell: Take the kids and the camera, leave your driver at home.

This place looks cute and inviting from the outside. The cheery yellow paint instantly puts kids (and nervous adults) at ease. The free yellow balloons for each customer are a nice touch.
Inside, it's a noisy and entertaining place for kids to have a hair cut. Took my son there on a weekend and it took quite a while to wait for his turn, but he was entertained the whole time. Looking at books and chatting happily with the stylists. He's five and makes friends fast!
The haircut itself was great, but a bit on the pricey side. I don't think I'd go back unless I hit the lottery. It was a fun place, but not really worth the price, in my opinion. Much better idea to take your kid to a cheaper salon for a haircut, and then out to ice cream for the same price.
Bottomline: Save your money, get ice cream instead.

Went in to this place to get an eyebrow wax. Was able to make an appointment as a walk in which I thought was a great thing.
The staff was courteous and the place looks very clean and tidy (important when dealing with personal areas).
Prices are reasonable and the whole procedure was fairly painless. I'd recommend this place as a good start for someone who has never had waxing before because the beautician explained the whole process to me before she started which I thought was a nice touch.
Eyebrows looked well groomed at the end. Not the best I've ever been to, but considering the price, I can't complain.

Studio Yogurt is the place to go for late night sweet tooth cravings. They have tons of toppings and lots of low fat choices. The servings are LARGE and GENEROUS so be careful not to over-order. Staff is friendly, pierced, and tattooed. A hip crowd usually gathers around closing time and the lines can spill out onto the sidewalk. Be prepared for a little bit of a wait, but it's all worth it once you get that yogurt in your hands. A huge yogurt with one topping will run you about $4 bucks, not bad especially if you are sharing it with someone special! Studio Yogurt is a sweet treat on Ventura.

Lauren Lubin is the kindest kids doc I've ever had. She comes into the room and greets the kids FIRST, which always wins points with them and with me.
She is competent, efficient, and book smart without talking down to you as a parent. Her office staff are professional and courteous. They are also really warm and always ready to give a hug or a kleenex to a tired or cranky tot.
What a wonderful thing to find a pediatrician who actually likes kids!
Bottomline: Stop looking. She's a keeper!
