Blaisdell Center always has great events almost every week. This complex is surely Honolulu's most popular entertainment venue in many many big events. It is comprised of three sections: the sophisticated Concert Hall, the newly renovated Exhibition Hall and the versatile Arena, which can seat more than 5,000 people.
Last year, I went to see Norah Jones Concert at the Blaisdell Center. It was a good concert! I really like it.

Executive Centre Hotel is located in the heart of downtown area, business district. In my opinion, It is designed to accommodate the discerning business travelers, not for tourists who want to enjoy the beach.
Even though, it gives guests quick and easy access to honolulu's business offices and government buildings, and aloha tower marketplace, it is not good for guests who want to enjoy the scenery, weather, and beach.
One thing i don't like about the room is it didn't make me feel like i'm in vacation. all i see around there are financial buildings.
In the night time, if you don't rent a rental car, you will have a hard time to find something to eat. Almost every shop around there close around 5 or 6 pm. Nothing to do for fun around downtown in the night time, unlike Waikiki area.

Ala Moana Shopping center has the open architectural design. it makes you enjoy the natural fresh air from outside. In addition, the interior design is pretty and also great to stroll through.
the bad thing for the open mall is when it's rain, you might get wet while you're shopping.
There are many different kind of shops to look at, ranging from generic brands like GAP, Banana Republic, Old Navy, to luxury brands like LV, Prada, Armani, and so on.
The mall also has luxury mall called Neiman Marcus at the center of the mall. It's really nice inside. it's good place to walk around while the outside is getting hot.
There are a couple of water ponds throughout with large fishes swimming around in it, which adds to the beauty of the center.
Ohh.. There is the international food court at the ground floor as well. the food court has a variety of foods.
Price is affordable.
My favorite food are Yummy Korean BBQ and Thai Chicken Satay with peanut sauce.
The center is easily accessible by TheBus. In addition, there are plenty of parking available for you.
the Ala Moana Center also provides Free Shuttle from Waikiki as well.

I know Rainbow Drive-in from Countdown Hawaii Show in Chan 16. Rainbow Drive-in has been voted by locals that it is the best local take-out in honolulu. it's not too far from waikiki. Rainbow Drive-In is next to 76 gas station. there's always a line for lunch time, especially weekend. lots of locals just drive to pick-up their lunch after surfing. the food portion is big. the price is reasonable.
I like thier burgers and mixed plates. sometimes they have beef stew on the menu... that's good too!

if you like Ice-cream, please try Bubbie's mochi ice-cream. you will love it.

the restaurant provides yakiniku food and alcohols(japanese's BBQ) ....
sometimes they will have a special offer such as 50% off in each item depend on each day.
for example,
Mon - Kalbi 50 % off
Tue - Pork 50% off.
This restaurant is really crownded , especially Fri- Sun evening.
You might want to call to make a reservation before you go there.

Ohh ... Be prepared that you will smell like grilled beef or BBQ Chicken .... (because the restaurant will prepare the charcoal for you to cook by yourself )
Tips : don't dip your meat in sesame oil and grill. it will make lots of smoke!

I were lucky to find this chinese restaurant in Waikiki. I used to live in Waikiki 2 years ago. It was kind of hard for me to find a good chinese food with affordable price in waikiki. as you probably know, waikiki is a tourist spot. everything is expensive in waikiki.
Anyway, Fatty's providets a variety of chinese food with affordable price. I always order take-out from them. you can actually see how the chef cook your food in the restaurant. they also serve you right after they cook if you sit in front of the counter. you can feel the fresh of your food. Yummy Yummy!!
However, the place is really small.
Therefore, it's not good for big group or dine-in. This place is good for take-out order.

the restaurant is always crownded. I suggeset you to call to make a reservation, especially dinner time.
They also have a special deal for $9.99 lobster.
you can tell the waiter how you want to cook the lobster. for example, salt&pepper or black bean sauce or Ginger & green onion.
Great for family parties and dine in ....
However, the price is a bit pricey compare to other chinese restaurants around. But, i think it's worth to pay for such a great food like that.

Restaurant Row 9 Theatres is located in downtown. the theatre shows movies that came out a while ago. Normally, movies are just a few months out-date. It's a great theatre for movie lovers who don't mind to watch movies later than the regular theatre like Ward Threatre.
In addition, The ticket is very cheap! just 1 dollar. If you go there before 3 pm , you just pay 50 cents to watch the movie!! 50 cents ONLY! ,plus they validate parking for you too! how great is that!
However, the theatres are kind of dirty and small.
Popcorn and other snacks are also avaiable!

If you live or work around downtown, i would like to recommend to take out your lunch from Yum Yum Thai on Bishop Street. One of my favorite take-out restaurants in DT. it has different kind of Thai foods to choose from. I like to order "sweet&sour fried chicken" and "bamboo-shoot chicken curry". However, some menus might spicy for some people based on thier preferences.
In addition, this place give you a big portion.
the price ranges from $3 - $4, which is not bad at all. Actually, I think it's best value compare to other take-out shops around there.
Lastly, they also have Thai dessert on the side as well depend on each day.
Highly recommend for take-out!
