Verbanos is a nice, small italian restaurant with a good variety on their menu. Their food size is perfect, though I did have leftovers. I was pleasantly surprised by their authentic flavors and it went great with my chardonnay. It was definitely one of the better Italian restaurants on Oahu.
My leftovers tasted even better!

I went to my first Luau when we have visitors last year. We had a group of ten and purchased the Alii package I believe which included unlimited Maitais for about $45 or so. When we arrived, there were a lot of activities to participate in. Weaving tee leaves, throwing a spear, etc. The fire show was my favorite, especially because they do it right after the sun goes down and the fire glowed real nice.
I'd recommend this event to any tourist visiting the islands. And if you're a local, you can get a kamaaina discount =)

Like the other reviewers, I don't see why anyone wants to go to the university of Hawaii for their liberal art requirements but you can pay half then amount at KCC and still transfer over the UH after that. Not only that, the campus is beautiful. You can sit in the small classrooms and look out at the ocean (of course only some buildings have this view).
I would highly recommend this college to anyone graduating from HIgh School. It will be a nice transition to college life.

Swamp Meet is still hanging in there is generating profit for our local people. It is still a good deal comparing to other boutiques selling tourist goods. The prices should remain fairly low because there is so much competition in there. Everytime I go, there is a new trend of items to be sold.
I think since Waikiki's Duke's Lane is getting smaller and the International Market Place is being reconstructed, Swamp Meet is going to get more business in the future. I hope they are ready because I will also be going there more often.
I always try to go early in the moring because it gest super hot during the afternoon. It's worth it though because you'll save a lot of money overall.

I live in Waikiki and sometimes I really need to pick up misc ingredients for cooking, etc. The prices are marked at least 20% higher on most things. However, I was able to get butter for about $1.50 and soda was decent too. Other items? Expect to pay an arm and a leg.

You won't believe if I tell you this because I couldn't believe it either. This bakery is open every day 24 hours except for Tuesday (I think) and it is PACKED at all hours of the day and night. I have driven by at 8AM, 11AM, 8PM, 9PM and 11PM and that bakery is filled with people. It's crazy.
I had breakfast there once and had to wait in line for their small over the counter style dining. For under $6, my Loco Moco was huge. Of course, I always pick up Coco Puffs for friends and coworkers but I haven't lately because I didn't want to stand in line. Oh yah, they don't take credit cards!

I find myself going to Daiei 2-3 times a week for whatever reason. Everytime I go in there, I always end up throwing a whole bunch for stuff in my shopping cart. They really have a lot of good sales on makeup, toiletries and asian/japanese foods.
Like Liz wrote, a new Walmart did open up by Daiei but I think they attract different clients. In fact, a new korean structure was built right next to it and I thought it might take some of their business away. But everytime I go to Daiei, it's always packed and the lines are super long (oh yeh, that is one of their down falls). Long lines and not enough staff. I still love it though!

I shop at Everblues for a clothing that I wear to go to a bar or club. They have a good selection of clothes, however, i'm coming to find out that their quailty is not very good (duh) but the prices are good. They have been creeping up a little higher lately but you can't find anything this cheap at the mall. I too, look at their sales rack and there are always good bargains for super cheap!

What a perfect place! A simply beautiful resort hidden deep in the Kahala/Hawaii Kai area. I had occasion to experience it a few times and each time was a pleasure. I dined at the Plumeria Cafe and the food was delicious. Quality, exception presentation and service. And the maitais are super strong! I'll need to save up some more money for my next trip there. I heard the Orchids Rest. is awesome too.

They have a great snack bar with a good variety of food. Their oxtail soup is the best! A lot of meat and the soup is delicious. My boss used to stop in there to pick up the oxtail soup for lunch but never to bowl. =) I guess he really loved it.
