My favorite summer activity is to stop by Jamba Juice in the Whole Foods Grocery store by Lake Calhoun. Of course, since you are there...take a leisurely stroll around the lake. Jamba Juice smoothies are so refreshing...especially on a summer day. They are also incredibly filling. You can enjoy one in substitution for a meal. My small group meets at Northwestern Bookstore in Har Mar Mall every week, and they are great! One week, the manager brought in M&M's to thank us for meeting there....I never would have imagined a bookstore actually appreciate us hanging out there for so long. The staff are so helpful, and it is easy to order the item you are looking for if they do not have it in stock. It's a great place to go and look for gifts for family members or friends!

I fell in love with Potbelly sandwiches the first time that I was there. I love the retro-decor. They have great toasted sandwiches...my favorite would be the wreck. Just when I thought the sandwich shop couldn't get any better...I tried their Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies...they are fabulous...they have a chewiness to them that makes you feel like they are fresh from your oven...trust me you'll really like Potbelly Sandwiches.

You will be surprised how much food they can pack into one tortilla shell. I love the food, and everytime I have been there, I've been very impressed with the food. I would even suggest trying it if you do not normally like Mexican food...I think that you will be pleasantly surprised!

This is so convenient...check it out, and you are sure to find just what you are looking for. It's also nice to know that you are supporting a Minnesota-based company. One of my favorite parts of best buy is their geek squad...keep them in mind next time you have computer problems.

This is such a great restaurant. They are known for their "pannekoeken" which are kind of a mix between a crepe and a pancake. You can get it plain or you can fill it with different kinds of fruits, vegetables, cheeses and meats. I love to go for breakfast! My favorite is the triple Berry pannekoeken, with blueberries, raspberries. This is an easy way to try some new and different types of food. It is located off of 100 on Excelsior Blvd. in St. Louis Park. I also know of another one in Maplewood, across from Maplewood Mall.

Downtown Excelsior is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a cute, quaint city, and you'll love the ice cream that is served up at this downtown ice cream shop! Pick up some ice cream, and spend the day checking out all of the cute shops in downtown Excelsior. My favorite is the summer evenings when there is a softball game going right by Lake Minnetonka. Grab the kids and check out this cute town south west of the Twin Cities!

The Aveda Institute in downtown Minneapolis is a great alternative to high priced salons. The students there are learning the newest trends in hair styles, so you'll be sure to get a great do! I would also recommend trying one of their facials there. Pamper yourself, on a low budget. Keep in mind, if you go, this is a school, so each service takes a bit longer than a regular salon because the instructor has to check over each step of the process. Give yourself plenty of time!
