We have eaten here a number of times. There are many great choices for entrées, my favorite item on the menu, by far though, is an appetizer that I sometimes order as an entrée. The cheese ravioli appetizer has a bachamel/white sauce with bread crumbs and is so creamy rich. Sharing this appetizer and having a salad can be a meal in itself. The atmosphere here is nice, though it sometimes gets loud...and one problem is that some of the lights flicker, and though they say they are aware of it, it has not been fixed. This is a nice restaurant with good food.

While visiting the area, and walking the old streets of Winchester, I happened on Botticelli's. The owner was unloading a new shipment of clothing, but took time to talk with me and to even assist me in choosing some unique clothing. The items carried in this store are lots of flowy fabrics and styles, some gypsy like...all unique. A nice plus was that it carried sizes of a wide range, as well. If ever I am in the area again, or even close, I will definitely be stopping in again to see what's new in stock and to say hello.

When we arrived in the Outer Banks, after checking into our rental home, we went to Jimmy's Buffet and picked up a seafood boil in a can. What a treat, add some liquid, boil the can and, viola, seafood boil!!! Crab legs, mussels, shrimp, scallops, potatoes, corn on the cob...all with just the right amount of Old Bay? seasoning, and all ready to boil and eat. Having this the first night of our being on the Outer Banks was an easy and wonderful beginning to our stay...a taste treat!

The Quiche was really good as well. We found ourselves stopping a few times when we were vacationing in the area, sometimes just for bread and cheese.

Bev's Caribbean Kitchen is a small place, I have never eaten in, preferring to take the food to go. I have had the jerk pork sandwich on traditional Caribbean bread and it is quite tasty. My favorite item on the menu is the sweet potatoes...served sliced and warm with a chutney on the side...yummy Caribbean sweetness.

When we visit Chicago there are a couple of places that we always frequent. One of them is Giordano's Pizza. After years of trying different types there, we now usually get a spinach and Italian sausage stuffed pizza. Giordano's does it the best...we have never tasted another stuffed pizza that comes close to the goodness of Giordano's.

I had heard that Café Sophia's had great food. The first time we visited the area, the restaurant was closed due to the owners visiting their homeland. Six months later we were in the area again and had the treat of dining here. The Goulash was superb, the dressing on the salads was unique and quite tasty...the dessert, the Palachinka..oy.
The Palachinka is a crepe with a yogurt and raspberry dressing with nuts on top...oy...so good. The owner was in and quite friendly, as was our waitress. We will definitely attempt to eat there again...if ever we find ourselves in the area again...even if we have to drive out of our way to be IN the area!

Pigman's Barbecue is a walk up window establishment at this location. The first time we ate there, we tried the BBQ pork sandwiches, lemonade and the sweet potato fries. The sandwiches are tasty, but we went back again and again for the sweet potato fries. The fries are cut like french fries, served warm with a coating of cinnamon/sugar...and when you bite into them they are melty goodness...each bite a sweet treat. If you are visiting the Outer Banks and need lunch, I recommend Pigman's BBQ...but if you want a REAL TREAT..stop by whenever you can and get the sweet potato fries!!!

I had seen this restaurant featured on a PBS show about odd shaped buildings. I never thought about it, what with living in the Midwest. Last autumn, as we took a day trip drive out of Boston, as our son visited MIT, we came around a curve in the road and there sat the Clam Box. "That is where we are having lunch!" I cried. I decided to try the local clams...oh my..what sweet goodness! I am so glad I didn't go for the FL clams many of us think of as clams...because the local clams were SO yummy. What a nice serendipitous surprise! The Clam Box!

Why beach pizza? When we visited the Outer Banks we ordered a ham and pineapple pizza from Stone Oven Pizza. As we were driving "home" we were wondering if we had the right order as something smelled more like dessert. Now, my family already likes ham and pineapple pizza, but Stone Oven adds a touch of cinnamon...oh my heavens, sooo good!!...this to me will always be "beach pizza." Now if you are afraid to try ham and pineapple, or just know you won't like it, Stone Oven Pizza has some other great pizzas...Philly Steak was good but a bit too salty. The standard pepperoni pizza is great too, because a big reason these pizzas are so good is the crust and the way they are cooked. Stone Oven Pizzas are really good.
