On a visit to the Outer Banks, I was searching for local titles as I often do when visiting an area, when we stopped into Beachfront Books N Things. The owner couple were in this small store and were very friendly and helpful. Though this is a small bookstore (when one is used to Borders) I did find some great titles here. And, well, the great people there made me want to support them with my business if I could, so we stopped a couple times while in the area. Nice counts!

As I write this on Easter, Honeybaked Ham is the main event of our Easter meal, (as well as Christmas.) This spiral sliced glazed ham is just the right mix of spice and sweet. And once the dinner is past; leftovers... and then the hambone makes a great base for split pea soup. Honeybaked Ham is a tasty treat...a little pricey, but worth it.

Hobie's used to be such a happening place! I am not sure why they are not as popular as they used to be. They used to have live music venues and be really crowded, that just doesn't seem to be the case anymore. BUT they have the best Clam Chowder around!!! and their sandwiches are made fresh to order from fresh ingredients. Great memories...but I stop by for the chowder.

MSUFCU is a complete banking operation open to students and employees of MSU and their relatives. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, the prices have always been comparable to other institutions. This is a great place to bank.

The MSU 4-H Children's Garden is located near other perennial gardens, including a large Rose garden. The Children's Garden has paths that lead wander past unique plots such as the pizza garden...
The MSU 4-H Children's Garden is located near other perennial gardens, including a large Rose garden. The Children's Garden has paths that lead wander past unique plots such as the pizza garden with herbs used to make pizza, a treehouse with unique stump steps, a hedge maze to wander thru, a Money bridge over a pond...and my favorite...the ground chimes...a delightful square of metal chimes located in the sidewalk that one jumps around on to create melodious sounds..makes me smile just thinking of it. The Children's Garden is delightful, but since you are right there, a stroll through the other gardens offers blooms of varying degrees throughout the growing season and is worth a visit, too. Visiting the gardens is a wonderful event for the senses.

I was introduced to Meijer Gardens when a friend and I went to see the Chiluly Exhibit in the Gallery there...and we made a day of it. We toured the other exhibit halls, the conservatories with tropical plants and butterflies, and, then, walked the paths on the grounds viewing all the great sculptures including the LARGE DaVinci Horse. We ended our day with purchasing some plants and items at the gift shops. This is a wonderful place for art and plants.

I know there are "super" stores not far away, but I prefer shopping in a grocery store. L&L is a clean store with a good selection. I especially like the Levanowski (L&L) made fresh sausages. I like this store, I can run in and shop, get what I need and be out of there...or browse groceries...without being lured by all the other non-grocery stuff the mega stores offer.

If you are in Georgio's try something out of the ordinary...have a slice of BBQ chicken pizza, tortellini pizza, or baked potato pizza with sour cream...they have some great taste twist treats for pizza here.

Bells Greek Pizza has a unique crust that is really good, though their pizza may cost a little more than some of the cheaper chain pizza places, Bell's is worth it. They also have grinders, which are like subs, and they are really good...I like the Genoa salami grinder best, but the meatball grinder is also really good. They also have Greek salads that are a nice side to pizza. So, pizza and subs, but different than just pizza and subs.

Hershey's Steak and Seafood Restaurant has a warm atmosphere decorated in dark woods. Sitting in one of the booths made for intimate dining and conversation. I particularly enjoy the Chicken with a Cherry sauce, though items others have ordered when I am with them have gotten rave reviews, too. This is a nice restaurant and one I expect to return to again and again.
