When my husband and I were first married, we lived in a manufactured home at Countryside Village of Lake Lanier. Because we owned our own home with our own yard, it was a nice alternative to living in an apartment, as most newly married couples do. Amenities included a clubhouse, swimming pool and play area. All the common areas were well maintained. And, when we were ready to buy a house, the community owner helped us sell our manufactured home.

Just 40 minutes north of Atlanta in the Georgia foothills, Chateau Elan is a world unto itself. My husband and I spent a weekend there recently when we needed some time away. Located on 3,500 acres, this is a regal resort. The Inn is designed to look a 16th century style French Chateau and the staff all treated us as though we were royalty. There are tours and tastings of the working, commercial winery. We found the tour very interesting. While my husband played some golf Saturday afternoon, I enjoyed a Hot Stone Massage at the spa. On Saturday night, we ate dinner at Le Clos. This is a French 5-course dining experience which took us nearly three hours and is something I won't soon, if ever, forget! The entire weekend was a regally relaxing experience.

The Center for Puppetry Arts consists of performances, a museum and classes. We recently saw The Little Rabbit and Other South American Tales by Akbar Imhotep of Atlanta and took a self-guided tour of the museum. The performance was delightful and we equally enjoyed the museum tour. With advance notice, you can request a guided tour and behind-the-scenes tours (which look very interesting) are also given. I look forwarding to taking one of the classes (for children, teens and adults), which look like they would be quite fun and educational. The Center also has an impressive, extensive library for filled with books on puppetry topics.

Centennial Olympic Park is a patchwork of green grass and red brick. It offers entertainment all year round. In the summertime there are fountains spraying from the five rings of the Olympic logo, free concerts and picnics. In the winter there is ice skating and holiday festivities. Be sure to see The Quilt of Remembrance in the NW corner of the park, a memorial to those killed by the 1996 Olympic bombing. While there are several restaurants nearby, if you get hungry to CNN Center's food court where the food is less expensive.
Hint: Competitive sports, skating, biking and feeding the pigeons are prohibited.

Most days of the week, Byblos is a rather nondescript restaurant in a strip mall; HOWEVER, go on a Saturday night and it is WILD with live music and belly dancers. I have an aunt who is Syrian and she and her family first introduced me to Middle Eastern food. Although the food at Byblos isn't quite as good as eating at my aunt's, it comes darn close. After enjoying the wonderful food, try one of the water pipes - quite an experience!
