Huthmaker Violins is a full-service violin shop located in Duluth. They specialize in fine violins, violas, celli, string basses and their bows. Their shop also offers string instrument repairs, restoration, bow restoration, bow rehairing, rentals and string instrument accessories.
Huthmaker Violins is owned and operated by a family of professional violinists, violists, cellists and string bass players.
Huthmaker's is housed in a two-story building which features elegant showrooms, acoustically designed try-out rooms, instrument and bow workshops and the Lynam-Huthmaker Performance Center which includes teaching studios and a recital/rehearsal hall.

I inherited some coins when my grandfather died and wasn't sure what to do with them. A friend from work recommended Hancock & Harwell, which is where my husband and I decided to go. Although I've heard he is no longer alive, we dealt with Mr. Hancock. We liked him very much, felt he was honest, fair and forthright. We decided to sell the coins to Hancock & Harwell and were very pleased with the outcome.

Unusual for a consignment shop, Hanger Roo has a frequent shopper program and a baby registry. Perhaps best of all, while Mom shops, the kids can watch TV and/or play pinball.

Even though this Governor's mansion was not built until 1967, it is full of historic items. These can be enjoyed when you take a self-guided tour of the mansion. The exterior of the mansion is Greek Revival-style, while many of the interior pieces are from the Federalist Period. The floating staircase in the foyer is an amazing feature, as are many of the lighting fixtures, the woodwork and furnishings. On our visit, there were hostesses in many of the 10 rooms we toured who were very helpful and interesting.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Frugal Fabrics with a designer friend and thought I had died and gone to heaven once I got inside the doors. This place has just about anything and everything you can imagine - something like 3,000 fabrics, 1,500 trims (tassels, bullion fringe, ball fringe, beaded fringe, feather trim, gimp, braids, wood beads), furniture, finials & poles, tiebacks, decorative hardware for window treatments, lamps, vases, boxes and chests, florals, candlesticks, figurines, bookends, mirrors, sconces AND MORE! The only problem is that you have to be or be with a design professional. If you get the opportunity to visit this treasure trove, don't miss it.

We recently took a tour of the fabulous Fox Theatre and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I learned a lot of information about this impeccably preserved magnificent landmark that has been designated a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally built in the late 1920s as the Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque, it has survived depression, mortgage foreclosure, bankruptcy, competition, and a force which affects all of us, age. Through the work of volunteers and skilled artisans, The Fox Theatre has not only survived but been restored to its original opulent grandeur. Today, it regally hosts a variety of programs - theatre shows (such as The Phantom of the Opera, Riverdance, Radio City Christmas Spectacular), Delta International Series' musical presentations (opera, Gilbert and Sullivan, Mozart, ballet), weddings and receptions, corporate affairs and cocktail parties. Whether it be in The Egyptian Ballroom, The Grand Salon, The Arcade, on The Terrace or the Theatre Stage, your wedding, reception or party will be unrivaled.

When I had to return to work after having my son (our first child), we chose Fountain Park Academy because it seemed to have extra safety measures in place - a secured entrance, video monitoring of all classrooms and playground, and viewing windows into each class. They are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and service kids from ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. As he got older, my son was excited about the three separate playgrounds, water park and indoor theater. We were quite pleased with the time he spent here.
