When my sister and I were young, we loved to skate. Now, my kids are going to Sparkles to do the same thing. Although the Marietta location is closer to home, their hours are limited so we go to the Kennesaw rink more often. They have a new skating floor and are talking about doing renovations soon. Let the kids spend a day here and they'll sleep good that night.

This is one place my kids are NEVER bored. Situated on 30 acres, the Southeastern Railway Museum consists of all kinds of historic train cars. Many different cars are on display (I think about 90) and you can get a ride in a restored train car. Think about going to the annual Railfair in September. We've gone twice and have had an enjoyable day both times.

Having been around almost 15 years, South City Kitchen has had time to get it right - and right, they do! Fried green tomatoes, she-crab soup, crab hash, buttermilk-fried chicken, pulled pork and pecan crusted trout are consistently cooked to perfection. Although service can be scarce when business is brisk, we've always been happy.

I'd heard mixed reviews of Sotto Sotto and decided to try it. Unfortunately, I am one of the people who was disappointed in this restaurant. My first thought was that it was loud and crowded. I ordered the tortellini stuffed with mascarpone and artichokes and was not happy. In fact, I didn't even finish my meal which is virtually unheard of for me. The chocolate soup for dessert was a great consolation, though.

I love this store! You never know what you'll find because it is a consignment shop which sells gently used furniture and accessories. Sensibly Chic also sells great one-of-a-kind items, including some created by local artists and craftsmen. This could all look like a disorganized mishmash of clutter but Marcia and Karen pull it all together with great style.

We're lucky to have Regal at Medlock so close to home, especially now that my kids are becoming teenagers. This theater has a great selection of movies at reasonable prices (currently $8.50 for adults, $5.50 for children, $6.50 for seniors, student discounts). There is stadium seating with movable armrests for comfort. Also, there are restaurants and little shops within walking distance in case you want to dine and/or window shop before or after seeing a movie.

This fabulous shop has been named best consignment/ vintage store in Atlanta for 10 years! I think that says a lot. They sell vintage clothing from the '50s to the '80s, new items from other stores that overstock and second-hand clothing for women and men. A bargain hunters dream, you'll never know what one-of-a-kind item you'll find here. Be forewarned that the shop gets really crowded on the weekends.
