The Oldest House Museum in Atlanta
Monday, April 17, 2006
My husband and I love historic architecture and we really enjoyed our tour of Joel Chandler Harris' home. Harris, author of the Uncle Remus books was also an editor of the Atlanta Constitution. Originally built in 1870, Harris bought it in 1883 and in 1884 turned it into the cute Victorian Queen Anne cottage it is today. Virtually unchanged since Harris' death in 1908, this landmark home even contains the furnishings from Harris time there.
