Not too long ago, I brought a Japanese friend of mine to this place, and she commented that it reminded her of home! Right then and there, I knew this was the hotspot. I am always able to find cool gadgets here as well, such as the nice Playstation backpack/lunchsacks, and even the hard to get Coro dogs.

This place is pretty good. The decor is nice as well. Unfortunately, it's another one of those non-Japanese owned sushi places, but if this does not bother you, then I can whole-heartedly recommend it. There is nothing special or unique about it separating Jiro from the plethora of sushi places out there, however.
BTW, the first word in the title is Japanese for delicious, while the last one is in the language of the owners of this place.

That adds to the charm of the place! It lends a quite intimate feel, and makes a small crowd seem like it's packed like sardines. I usually hit this place up on Saturday nights, and let me tell you... the hunnies certainly roll up in style, dressed to impress. The only downfall is the location. It's kind of off the beaten path, so definitely DO NOT park on the street. I learned this the hard way. Luckily, there is an attended parking lot in close proximity that charges ten bucks, so no worries.
Also, I forgot to mention... the system at this place absolutely SLAPS!!!

Hands down... the absolute BEST milk tea/green milk tea in the Bay. Although this cafe is dinky and totally unassuming, lines out the door are not uncommon, as the best kept secret has been exposed to the masses. My favorites are the Japanese green milk tea and kiwi green tea, but you can't go wrong with any of the choices.
On weekends, there is also a separate section that sells HK style waffles and HK style egg puffs (very similar to Bubble Act in Milpitas), and it is pure excellence at extremely low prices.
The service is friendly, especially if you are a guy (it's literally a ratio of 10:1 girls to guys employed here), and more efficient than any other boba shop I've ever been to with the possible exception of Tapioca Express in UC.
My only gripe is the lack of seating. Since it is situated in an indoor mall, as opposed to most other similar cafes being outside, there are no outdoor tables, and people don't tend to "chill" here like they do elsewhere.

Although from the outside, it looks like a formal sit-down restaurant, it's actually more like a fast food joint, but that's just as well. Their lunch specials are dirt cheap, and are also rather delectable! You can choose from a variety of spicy northern Chinese dishes such as "fish flavored eggplant," kung pao chicken," and "four seasons green bean." I've tried just about every item, and I haven't had a bad experience yet!
For a grand lunch experience, just order to go, and head on over to Quickly tapioca next door. Order a milk tea or green milk tea, and just chill outside on the terrace.

I remember this place being here back before anyone even knew what boba was. Well, fast forward almost ten years later, through the many ups and downs of the industry, and it is still standing, strong as ever. The drinks themselves are not the most tasty (not sweet enough, in my opinion), but if you are a fan of pearls ("jun jyu" in Chinese), this joint has got all the competition beat down.
Personally, I don't care too much for tapioca, but I must admit, this place has it right. Not too hard, yet not too chewy, as Goldilocks would say, it's "Just right!" To top it all off, nothing beats a nice leisurely stroll in Oak C-town, so now that the days are sunny, after dining on a nice lunch in the area, make sure you hit up Ming Yuen Island to grab yourself some boba before shopping.

I wonder why this place is still listed here, since it went out of business two or three years ago.

I remember I would come here from time to time when they first opened, and the service was absolutely HORRIBLE. The waiters were rude, and didn't even have any idea what items were on their menu. For instance, they served "combo meals," which included soup/salad, the main course, plus dessert. Most of the time, the waiters didn't even seem to realize that some of these items were missing from our table (or maybe they were just playing dumb and ripping us off). Furthermore, God forbid if you ever felt the urge to ask for more tea.
However, I have gone back recently, and it seems like they have cleaned up their act tenfold. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and business looks to have picked up. Food alone can't save a restaurant. What most people come back for at any establishment is the overall pleasure of the dining experience.
The decor here is loud without being overbearing. Somehow the tropical bamboo style doesn't match the type of fare 100%, but it still brings forth a unique experience you won't find at any other cafes. The food itself is quite good. As a matter of fact, it's always been decent. There is some "traditional" Chinese food, but the specialty here is the "HK Fusion" cuisine, which is kind of like half Chinese/half American style.
Cousin Cafe now has some stiff competition with nearby Venus Cafe upping up the ante after remodeling. From the looks of the packed house at lunch hours during a recent visit, it seems that they are certainly up to the task.

The food is only a little above average, and the portions are quite tiny, but this place is all about the ambience. Although it is your basic Chinese (Taiwanese) American fusion style restaurant, the decor is reminiscent of a high class French or Italian establishment. Once inside, you seem to forget that you are smack dab in the middle of a busy strip mall on a major throughfare, as you are whisked away to another world. This is the classic example of all style, and less substance. That is not to say that it is bad, however.
They really know what they are doing here with the marketing. Simple dishes, such as Taiwanese style bento are served on fancy looking plates that sometimes seem like overkill. In any event, it's amazing how the placebo effect works, as ordinary food is magically transformed into a culinary delight. The service is so-so, and the waitresses are sometimes quite slow with requests, but it's all good, since the whole purpose of visiting this cafe is to just sit back and relax.
Because of all this, I recommend this place for a nice dinner with a girl. Although I haven't had the pleasure of going out on a date in eons, I would assume that this is the type of place that would provide a nice backdrop for some meaningful conversation in a romantic, yet not too pretentious environment. It will definitely be a lasting experience for both parties without having to break the bank.
