Most cities have one store you can count on to find the absolute perfect gift, whether it's for a baby shower or your mother-in-law's birthday. The Dancing Rabbit is that store--and in a storefront so small that it will make you wonder how on earth they managed such an amazing feat.
The owner has extraordinary taste, and every single item is carefully chosen. From handcrafted jewelry to Northwest theme door chimes, from scented drawer liners to hand lotions, you'll find all the best things right here. Whether you're buying for yourself or someone else, they're bound to have something you love. Imagine your most stylish, tasteful friend going shopping for you, and you'll have a good idea of the fabulous range of products you'll find.
The service is simply fabulous, and you'll always feel welcome. It's one of the top stores on my list, and it could be one of yours too. Enjoy!

The character of many Northwestern towns was found in their grange buildings. A community gathering place, they were used for everything from weddings to special events, from concerts to bingo nights. That grand tradition is carried on in a former grange building in Ridgefield--with an upscale twist that brings great character to the small town.
The owners have invested a great deal of time and money in restoring the building to its former glory. Neglected for many years, it is again a proud resident of Pioneer Street. Functioning as an art gallery, a retail space, and an event venue, the Pickled Heron serves many needs in the small community. There are art classes available, gallery shows from time to time, and even the occasional wedding reception. It stages concerts for nearly all of the major Ridgefield events, including a great bluegrass jam during BirdFest. Its space includes a multifunctional event space with hardwood floors and great acoustics, a downstairs retail area with art supplies, a certified kitchen, and even a small classroom.
In a world that is all too ready to rip down old buildings and put up another Starbucks, the Pickled Heron gives Ridgefield yet another reason to claim its right as a charming small town. It's definitely worth a visit.

We've all been in the horrific fluorescent glare of a standard convenience store, with warnings and surveillance counters and shifty clientele. The complete opposite of the standard convenience store is Zebrun's Starliner, a small town convenience store with great taste and great atmosphere.
Even though it is a fairly small store, Zebrun's manages to pack a lot of punch into the small space. You can find a good wine selection and craft beers, great sodas and fun snacks, and even a small deli counter. Not a lot of produce, but then again, there's probably not much call for it. Just about anything else you need is probably there somewhere.
They make coffees for you at the counter if you're desperate for a latte, and they also do sandwiches from the deli area if you're really hungry. It's a great place to run for a few tnings you need--or to sit and talk for an hour with someone you see there.
The service isn't always the best (depends on who is working at the time), but if they're not too busy, you're likely to find yourself chatting about the weather or why you're visiting Ridgefield, or even about local events. It's that kind of place.
For a convenience store with charm and old-fashioned style, stop into Zebrun's. It's part of what makes Ridgefield the charming town it is.

Remember the old theaters? Big rows of upholstered chairs bolted to the floor, dark velvet curtains, an actual theater stage up front? A few do still exist, and the Old Liberty is one that still operates as a theater, bringing live music and great entertainment to the small town of Ridgefield.
The Old Liberty Theater has carved out a niche for itself with fantastic live bluegrass music, many of them names that are just as likely to play in the much larger nearby city of Portland, Oregon--for larger ticket prices. You can enjoy the weekly Wednesday bluegrass jam, numerous special concerts, or even the monthly Teenth Night (a Friday that falls on a 'teenth of the month) open mic. You won't be disappointed.
The atmosphere is very welcoming; everyone from the staff to the fellow patrons are friendly and kind. There is a small coffee shop in front, Seasons, that offers everything from a latte to hand-scooped ice cream for intermissions. And special events, like magic shows, do come through from time to time for a little extra excitement.
In this small town, you can still find an old-fashioned good time that you can bring your whole family to--at the Old Liberty Theater.

If you're looking for desserts that are distinctive and one-of-a-kind, Creative Cakery is DEFINITELY the place to go. They make incredibly moist, delicious bundt cakes and fabulous cookies, then top the whole package with truly gorgeous ribbons, decorations, and custom candles.
Their princess cake is simply to die for, every little girl's dream, with a shiny crown, magic wand, pearl necklace, and loads of shiny sparkle. When I bought the Yu-Gi-Oh cake for my nephew, I literally had women grabbing my arm in the Chuck E. Cheese to look at the cake decorations and demand to know where I got it.
I've also bought their fantastic cookie trays for dinner parties, thank you gifts, and baby showers. It is always devoured--and people always want to know where it came from.
It's a little more expensive than stopping at your local Safeway, but it is definitely worth it for the incredible impact and the wow factor. Highly recommended!!
