The Da Kine burger is outstanding and very filling. The macaroni salad, though, is kind of a rip-off as it seems like it was bought from QFC and sold for well more than what you would pay for it at the grocery store. Actually, this place is nothing to write home about, but it's a nice place to sit down and have a burger and watch traffic.

This is, perhaps, the best lunch value in the U-District when it comes to sub shops. Also, it might be one of the last places you can still by lunch for less than five dollars. Zilly's has your standard sub sandwich fare, but it is just a little cheaper than the other options on the Ave. The staff are nice and cheerful.

The number one attribute of A New York Pizza Place (besides the pizza, of course) is ambiance. This is a great place to take the kids after soccer practice or drop in with a friend to grab a pint and a slice of pizza after work. This is a very family-oriented restaurant with a pleasant staff. If you're thinking about Pagliacci or Papa John's, you'll want to try out A New York Pizza Place as it is right on par with them.

If you're looking for a sure bet on some great Thai food, check out Thai Tom. The place is small and gets pretty packed, especially in the evenings. A word of caution: this place seems to turn it up a notch or two when it comes to the spices, so if you usually take a three or four on the spices you may want to tame it down to a one or two. Also, the service is outstanding.
