Palm Beach Sports is Jupiter's newest sporting goods store. Although they are new, the selection they have is massive. They sell sports equipment and accessories for every sport I can think of - baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, paint ball, hockey, tennis, soccer, skateboarding, boxing, swimming and MORE! They carry brand names like Champion, Penn, Easton, Everlast, Franklin, etc. They also do screen printing, like for team shirts, and sell trophies. Palm Beach Sports is a locally owned business which is active in and supports the community through their involvement in youth sports. This is one more reason why I like to buy my sporting goods from them.

Perhaps the only thing more relaxing than sitting and listening to the sounds of the ocean is listening to the sounds of the ocean while you're fishing. Lake Worth pier has long been known for some of the best pier fishing in the area. The 960โ long pier is as close to the Gulfstream as you can get without a boat. You can fish 24 hours a day, but be prepared for the admission fee - an astronomical 50 cents! Even if you don't catch anything, the price of admission is well worth the view.

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is part of the legacy of Hugh Taylor Birch, a lawyer for oil magnate John D. Rockefeller. Situated on a freshwater lagoon, most of the park consists of a natural hammock. There is plenty to do here - hike, bike, skate, rent a canoe, fish, picnic. If you get your fill of the park or just want to add to your adventure, you can access the beach and ocean by way of the pedestrian tunnel UNDER A1A.

Fort Pierce Inlet State Park is a coastal park situated on the Atlantic Ocean. Here, you can swim, surf, snorkel, scuba dive, sunbathe, search for shells, picnic or just zone. If you move inland, there are hiking and biking trails and areas that are great for bird watching.

John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is actually a barrier island. As such, the park is a blend of coastal beach, water, mangrove and natural hammock. This mixture provides the opportunity for a variety of recreational activities - swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, bird watching, hiking, fishing, canoing, kayaking, sunbathing and just plain relaxing. There is a nice little nature center and a picnic area.

St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park is a unique park in that it can only be reached by boat. That makes this the perfect place to do what Floridians take for granted and visitors come to do - fish, swim, snorkel, scuba dive and sunbathe. Because it's difficult to reach, this beach is much more quiet than beaches on the mainland. There is a boardwalk that allows you to walk through the unadulterated landscape. The natural habitat makes this a favorite nesting place for turtles. Although we don't get there often, I think St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park is one of the most unusual state parks we've been to in Central Florida.

Blue Heron Fleet has three boats that take you out deep sea fishing. Two run out of Riviera Beach and one runs out of Jupiter. They are all good boats but I prefer the Blue Heron II because it's fast and gets you out and fishing. And that's what I want to do - fish. The captains and crew above all the Blue Heron boats are the best - professional, knowledgeable, personable, friendly and helpful. The crew is particularly helpful. If you need help baiting your hook, they'll do it. If you need help getting your fish off your hook, they'll do that, too. The times I've been out deep sea fishing, I've caught dolphin, snapper, yellowtail, grouper and even a shark. I've seen others catch sailfish, mutton, mackerel, barracuda and bonito. The only thing I don't like about Blue Heron is that they don't offer full-day outings. They have two half-day cruises each day, giving you 2 1/2 to 3 hours of actual fishing time.

A thousand bucks can buy you the thrill of a lifetime! I'm talking about the race boat thrill rides you can rent here. You have the choice of driving or riding shotgun. Although they have less expensive programs, I say go for the gusto. This experience lasted about three hours and included instruction and about 10 laps of high speed thrill. They have all kinds of sailing and power boat excursions as well as airplane charters and helicopter and sea plane rides. I'm thinking about doing one of the sea plane rides. Father's Day is coming up...

Yum's is probably the healthiest fast food you can order. If you call and order before you go, it's even faster. Owned by the same family that owns the Yum's in Sebring, this was the first restaurant. Service is always pleasant. You can eat in, but there is NO dining atmosphere. The food is good, prices are cheap but the drink choices leave something to be desired. Go next door to Publix and get your soda instead of ordering it here. You'll get a liter for less than the cost of a can of Coke here.
