Although it is expensive, Lion Country Safari is a great place to visit. You drive through the grounds in your personal vehicle and the animals are allowed to run wild. These animals include lions, tapirs, African elephants, various antelope, white rhinos, water buffalo, zebras, chimpanzees and giraffes. Driving through Lion Country Safari is like being on a safari in Africa. At the end of the drive-through portion of Lion Country Safari is a walk-through area called Safari World. Safari World includes a restaurant and gift shop (air conditioned and a welcome refuge on hot summer days), a petting zoo, merry-go-round, boat rides, and bird, reptile, alligator and monkey exhibits. Lion Country Safari is an educational facility, a conservation park and a fun place to enjoy the day.

Although Rachel's is a topless strip joint, they are best known for their excellent steaks. They should be excellent as expensive as they are. I'd heard about Rachel's for a couple of years before venturing there. I actually went because International Poker Tours was holding a poker tournament there. As a draw, IPT advertised that they were having famous poker professionals at the tournament. That was about as honest as the t*ts on the ladies working at Rachel's. There is enough plastic work in there to have paid for several surgeon's European vacations. More than the steaks are expensive. Sodas run about $5 each. There is a dress code - men have to wear sleeves, no tanks allowed. They will lend you a shirt if you show up in inappropriate attire, though.

As far as I'm concerned, the best thing about Beer Belly's is the chicken wings. That isn't saying anything bad about Beer Belly's, I'm just saying the chicken wings are superb. Beer Belly's is a sports bar in a shopping plaza. It consists of a big room with maybe four pool tables, dart boards, a stage and some tables and chairs and the mandatory TVs. To the left of this big room is a big square bar, that is accessible on all four sides. I go to Beer Belly's about once every week or two to participate in charity poker games.

I first went to Zooks to play in a charity poker event. Zooks is in a building which stands alone in a parking lot. When I went inside, my first impression of Zooks is that it is a dive. It is a big square room with a bar, a few tables and booths and some TVs around the bar. There is also a smoking area outside. I didn't like the way the charity poker tournament was run and I didn't much care for Zooks so I haven't been back.

Located at the bottom of an office building, The Ale House consists of three different bars. There is an outdoor bar to the left, an indoor bar in the middle and another outdoor bar to the right. There are a few pool tables inside and TVs and booths both inside and out. Platinum Poker hosts charity poker events here on Monday and Thursday nights, which is the reason I come. The only thing I've had to eat here are the potato skins but I've ordered them several times. They come LOADED with cheese, sour cream, chives and bacon and are excellent!

Although Bryan Boru's is known for its pool room, I was introduced to this sports bar through Platinum Poker - an organization which sponsors charity poker tournaments. Platinum Poker holds a weekly poker tournament at Bryan Boru's on Sunday nights and I've been there several times for that. Boru's is a nice establishment. There are, of course, lots of pool tables. There are also TVs all around the top of the room. There is an upper deck with a bar and several booths, which overlooks the room with all the pool tables. The food is good and the atmosphere is manly.

Although I've been eligible for about 21 years, I didn't learn until two or three years ago that I qualified for VA medical benefits. Although I'd heard some nightmarish stories about the care vets receive, I have been very happy with the treatment I've gotten at the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach. I was originally seen by an MD but Dean Evans, a PA (Physician's Assistant) is now my primary caregiver. I couldn't receive better care and treatment from anyone. Mr. Evans is very thorough when I see him. He also seems to care about me as a person. Although you're a number everywhere you go in the military, I seem to be more than that to Mr. Evans. In fact, after I had orthopedic surgery last year to rebuild my ankle, Dean Evans called me at home one Saturday because I had an important question. I was very impressed with that level of concern. I've seen doctors in several departments and think they have all been very qualified professionals. The supporting staff (nurses, technicians, clerks, etc.) I've dealt with have all been very good, too. My one complaint is that it can take a significant amount of time to get an appointment, even if the VA cancels your appointment and has to reschedule it. This happened to me when I was having chest pain and had a stress test scheduled. The one person who could perform the stress test did not show up for work so my appointment was canceled and it was longer than six months before it could be rescheduled. I was having chest pains, shortness of breath and they were checking for problems with my heart, mind you. Other than that, I've been just as happy with, if not happier with, the medical care I've received at the VA than with treatment I've gotten at any other hospital or health care facility.

Located in the Okee Square Shopping Center, this theater is located near my home. Although they show current movies, the theater is a bit outdated. That should change soon, as they are presently closed for renovations. My wife and I are looking forward to their reopening. We're hoping for stadium seating, surround sound and clean bathrooms. Only time will tell.
