This Taco Bell is attached to a not so new gas station. The restroom is in the attached convenience store and it's not the cleanest in town. The Taco Bell itself is seperated by a wall and glass door. It's small and has that "attached to a gas station" atmosphere, but it's a good place to grab get your fast food tacos if you're out that way.

When's the last time you had fresh flowers on your table at a McDonald's? There are beautiful murals on the walls depicting scenes of old Elgin. It's clean and nice place to stop on your way out of Austin. They've recently added an indoor play area for the little ones. The line and service can get annoying at times, but for a McDonald's, it is fairly enjoyable overall.

This is a family operation and the food and friendly service are great. The building is small and a bit run down, but it's worth stopping in. The mexican dishes are enjoyable and the atmosphere is amiable. They aren't open on Sunday, and they close between lunch and dinner, but Saturday breakfast can be a real treat.

It's a burger bar, so don't expect much more than that. The people are friendly and the food tastes good, but it has that run down not terribly clean atmosphere that may put a damper on your dining.

The Cattle Company serves up a great filet mignon at a very reasonable price. It comes with your choice of two sides - the usual baked potato, green beans, salad, etc. It's not a fancy steak place, it's a home town steak place and the steaks are great. The service is usually good, and if you have the desire, there is an adjoining karaoke bar on the other side of the back wall (don't worry, it doesn't seem to bleed through into the restaurant). If you are allergic to cigarette smoke, like I am, go in the earlier evening hours as there's just one big room for dining.

The City Cafe's weekend buffets are great if you're looking for homestyle fare. They usually include 2 meats: turkey and ham; a plethora of cooked veggies: carrots, sweet potato's with marshmallow topping (and I do mean sweet! - this is like a dessert), cabbage, green beans, macaroni and cheese (yes, really, but not the boxed variety), butter beans, black eyed peas, mashed potatoes (gravy optional) - numerous others I can't think of at the moment; and for dessert - fruit filled jello. Do you feel like a kid again? The food is good, the service is (usually) good, the price is good (less for those of you that don't eat meat).

The service is not always great, but the burgers are! I've also had their teriyaki chicken dish which left something to be desired.
