I thought that the classes at this school were a waste of time 'cause all did was joke around, watch videos, and then take quizzes. There are many instructors and mine was funny and laid back, but he joked so much that I would write in my journal and not miss anything. I wouldn't have gone to this school if I had known it was like this, but once you pay for your classes, you can't get a refund! So attend a class and check out different schools.
This school offers classes on weekends and weekdays. It cost me $350 for 30 hours of in-class instruction and 6 hours driving. Students can do their in-car driving only after finishing all of the 30 hours of class. I missed two classes (one because the school was closed due to snow and one 'cause I was away on vacation), and rescheduling has been a pain. I've tried to reschedule but their classes are already full when I call even though I call throughout the week. I can't schedule classes too in advanced either so I'm rudely told to call back later. Yeah, the woman who does the scheduling is quite rude and has no patience. She acts as though you're bothering her for calling about scheduling classes when it's her job to do that. Since the school's scheduling is crazy, this means that I can't get my in-car instruction yet. I can only imagine the ordeal that scheduling in-car lessons will be.
People could read the book and save so much money if only Maryland state would stop requiring people to go to driving school!
There must be better driving schools. I wouldn't recommend this one.

I'm glad that I signed up for this bank 'cause I can bank online for free, and they don't charge me for my checking or savings account.
Wachovia doesn't have as many ATMs as some other banks, but if you don't need ATMs all the time (I don't), I think you'll be happy with Wachovia. I used to have an account with Chevy Chase Bank, and I felt like my money was on lock-down. They had minimums and fees everywhere. Of course, you should check it out and see which bank meets *your* needs.

This is a Chinese restaurant at Sumner Place. I had a vegetarian dish (tofu), and it was good although I've had better. It was a big dish and they didn't balance it with vegetables. It seems like if you're a vegetarian you should go to a place that does just that. Well, my friend had shrimp and she liked her dish very much.
The price at this restaurant is reasonable. I went on a Friday after work (at about 6 PM) and it was very busy, so we had to wait a long time for our food. I saw many families there and it looks like a nice place to take the family.

I don't shop for fabrics often, but I saw this place on my way to work. Here you can buy pure silks, ribbons, threads, pattersn, luxury fibers, wools, linens, buttons, and such. It seemed like all you would need to sew, except for the sewing machine. :)
I didn't fall in love with any of the fabrics there, but there were some neat ones. The store has a wide selection of textured fabrics.
I went at 1 PM on a weekday and the sales guy was fast and choppy 'cause he had to attend a handful of costumers... so I'm not sure whether he's helpful or nice.

I like the store 'cause it has nice things for the home and for college dorm rooms. I also heard that the store has a good return policy, but I've never returned anything to this store.

I loved the dish that I had there, but it was too expensive for how small my portion was. My dish was $10 and it didn't come with rice! I had to order that separately for an extra $4. I also ordered a mango lassi and it was the smallest lassi I've ever had in a restaurant. Hmm.. Now that I think about it, this place might be good for dieters. Hehe. The food, albeit in small portions, was good and tasty.
If you have the money and like Indian food, this might be a place to try.

This is an awesome restaurant that serves only Indian vegetarian food. Its prices are relatively low compared to other restaurants in DC. Also, their portions are good and hearty. This is silly, but I liked their rice a lot. One server noticed that I had finished my bowl and brought me a second bowl and didn't charge me for it. That is not what happens at fancy DC restaurants I've been to where you have to buy rice separately with your dish.
You can have their lunch buffet from (I think) 11 AM to 2 PM. It is only $10.
**If you don't like spicy food, remember to specify that you would like your dish without spices or mildly spicy. I forgot to do that and my food was spicier than I would have liked. It was still good, though.
This restaurant is near the Farragut West and Farragut North metro stations.
There are a lot of good vegetarian dishes to try, so I say: go explore Nirvana.

I've been using the Metro for a few months. The Metro system in DC is easy to understand, and I caught on to it right away.
The trains run fairly often and the stations I've gone to have always been clean and neat.
However, the train cars get super crowded during the morning and evening rush. They are especially crowded from 5 PM to maybe almost 7. Perhaps more people are taking the Metro now that gas prices are so high, but the Metro system should accommodate for this and send out more cars.
The Metro is also pretty expensive. The least expensive rides are $1.35. On weekends and from 11 to 3 PM you get discounted fares, but that doesn't save you that much money.
The Metro has very few stops and it is mainly concentrated in DC. New Yorkers will miss their subway since that has lots of stops and provides access to many parts of NYC.
If you can take the bus, I would say go for that instead. It is cheaper, has more stops, and it's not as crowded.
If you're going to be riding the Metro often, then consider buying a SmarTrip card. You put money on it and use it like you would a fare card. It costs $5, but only a few stations sells them. (Ask someone who works at the Metro.) I think that the card is worth the $5 because it is easier to remember and to find. The fare cards are paper and small so I lose them easily.
The Metro has a great website that helps you plan your trip by rail and bus. I highly recommend it:

Good luck!

This is where I do all of my grocery shopping, but not so much by choice: it's the only place near where I live. The prices are much higher than what I am used to and I wonder whether it's 'cause the store is located in Bethesda (a not-so-cheap city in general). In order to get a discount you have to sign up for a Safeway Card. I recommend that you do that 'cause the prices there for many items already seem a bit inflated. The generic Safeway products only save you a few pennies compared to the brand name products. The store probably doesn't want to bring the prices of its products down, so it compares prices to the brand names and lowers them just a tiny bit.
This store goes through renovations often. I find it difficult to find things after renovations so that is annoying. Just when I think that I know where to go to get my coconut milk, for example, the store moves things around and I feel like the store is a maze all over again.
The store has headings on each aisle that do a poor job of telling you what is in the aisle. You really have to look around to find things, and many items are in places I would not expect them to be after reading the aisle's heading. I waste a lot of time running around finding what I need.

I was disappointed in this movie store. You can rent movies here and they have a decent selection of movies. It is a quiet store and, I don't know, it was very unexciting and too low-key. I didn't like its prices either. Even the older movies cost a lot. It's the only movie rental store near where I live, so I go to it.
On the plus side, it is easy to get a membership at this store. Just bring your credit or debit card and an ID.
