The Oldsmar is a haven for bargain hunters. But be sure to arrive early!! The "professional shoppers" are there when the sun comes up, so if you want the really great deals, then is the time to go.
A good place to remember here is the nursery--there are many interesting plants, and it is open all week long (many of the vendors are only there on the weekend.)

I was quite amazed when entering the Tampa Theater. I didn't know it would be as pretty as it is. It is essentially built in an art-deco style, with Egyptian motifs throughout. If you are looking for "art house" films, this is the place to go. They regularly show interesting films that mainstream theaters wouldn't bother with. They also have a variety of other events--speakers, bands, authors, etc. A very interesting space to visit. I think they also have a "behind-the-scenes" tour on Saturdays.

And while it is perceived as a pricey place, there are also affordable stores for everyone, like Forever 21, Abercrombie, and The Gap.
Another fun thing: around the holidays, they usually have snowstorms in the outdoor area!

After living in NYC, the velvet ropes don't bother me. But paying a cover (on a Friday night) to listen to a semi-OK band play "Hot Hot Hot" by Buster Poindexter?? That's not good! And someone in our party had sneakers on (which were brand-new and sparkly white), so he wasn't allowed to enter. I wouldn't mind bouncers being selective, but looking into the place, it didn't really seem they were selective at all!
Not a cool place to go in Tampa.

I went here later in the evening. The first thing I noticed was the deafaning TV sounds. Yes, I know it's a sports bar, but it was difficult to talk to people in your party, even at the seated/table area. We ordered drinks and appetizers. The spinach dip was very good, but the mozarella sticks and the quesadilla were way overpriced and not that great. We also had an awful server, who had to be asked for things at least twice.

This Dollar Tree location is a good one--very clean and well-organised. It is very good for getting holiday decor, whatever the holiday! The price also can't be beat for cards and gift-wrapping supplies. I've also found pet toys at the unbeatable $1 cost.
I am wary of some of the food, paper, and cleaning items, as they can be bought cheaper at Wal-Mart or another big shop.

Someone brought me here--I'm not a huge ice cream parlor person. But this place changed my mind!!! All of the ice cream is home made and it's delicious! To make it even better, you choose from a selection of goodies, like fresh fruit or candy, and they "mix" them into the ice cream. And it's, yes, on a marble slab. It is quite a treat (especially with the movie theater in the same complex!)
They also do ice cream cakes--perfect for parties. They have some on hand or you can pre-order special flavors.

It is a 20-screen theater, so most likely, the film you want to see will be there. It does get very busy, on the weekends mainly, so go early if you want a good seat.
The main drawback is the parking--yes, there is parking, but sometimes you have to walk quite a ways!!

Bar Louie, at the Internaional Plaza, is a great place to hang out. They have a ****-load of beer on tap...It has to be one of the most in the Tampa Bay area. And on any given day or night, there are usually 2 or 3 selections on the special--$2 a glass! Beyond that, the bar seems to reliably draw a good crowd of down to earth people.
