I visited Dr. Maimone at Dental Specialty Associates to have my wisdom teeth out last year, and I have to give him a great review. I was TERRIFIED about the procedure, but Dr. Maimone and his assistants gave me plenty of information, helped keep me calm before the procedure, and gave me excellent follow-up care instructions. They helped my sister flag a cab afterwards to send me home, and scheduled both my main appointment and follow-up visit at times very convenient for me. Their pricing was easy to understand, and I had hardly any dealings with them outside of giving them my insurance information. They billed the insurance company and then sent me a bill for the remainder, which accurately reflected what he had quoted me before beginning.
While getting one's wisdom teeth out is never a painless experience, I had no problems recovering and have continued to be happy that I chose Dr. Maimone. I only wish he was a dentist as well as an oral surgeon, because he would be my first choice for all dental services!

I've been to Randee Elaine a number of times for waxes and manicures, and I've always been happy with the results. Their employees are friendly, professional, and hygiene-conscious. Their hours cannot be beat--they're open late and all weekend long. Their prices are also fantastic, and they provide coupons for new customers.
When I went for my first waxing session, I was put at ease, made as comfortable as possible, instructed on how to care for my newly bare skin, and given samples of products to help deal with irritation. My waxer was courteous and professional, and I wouldn't go anywhere else for these services.

Our food was excellent. I went with my mother and cousin, and all three of us are lifelong vegetarians. We were thrilled with the selections, and ordered miso soup, basil spring rolls, taro spring rolls, general sesame medallions (yum!!!!) and tofu almond cheesecake (the consistency is a little weird, but it's tofu, so what can you expect? The taste, however, is amazing). All the food was delicious and I can't wait to try more stuff off their menu.
In addition, the staff there were really friendly, explained menu items to us, were very accomodating about our sharing one entree, and just all around a great experience. The price was good, too--less than $30 for all three of us (three appetizers, one entree, one dessert).
Overall, highly recommended. I'll be going back.

Covenant is the place I go for laundry detergent, spices, and home furnishings like sheets and towels. Their prices are really good, especially for the spices (big bottles of most spices for only 99 cents!). The detergent is usually marked down as well.
They've also got pretty much anything you could ever want--kitchen utensils, a meager grocery section (but good for picking up cheap stuff like vinegar or oil) with discounted Little Debbie goodies, cheap makeup if you're a colorful nail polish fiend like me, sewing kits, light bulbs, laundry bags, storage supplies, school supplies, bath mats and throw rugs, lamps, window shades and plastic for wintertime, candy, socks and basic underwear, and seasonal items like holiday decoration or sand pails, plus pretty much anything else you need. The people who work there are helpful, and the prices are definitely great.

I work around the corner from Mid-Town Buffet and takeout or dine-in, I've always been pleased. I especially love their string beans.
The buffets are clean and the trays of food are always full. There is a large selection for vegetarians, and also good ranges of meat and seafood. The prices are very reasonable for both takeout or eating in (I think it's all-you-can-eat for $5.95 or something--unbeatable in midtown!). They're also always willing to let me have a takeout container of plain white rice for $1 if I bring leftovers to work with me.

Metro is right down the street from my house, and I eat or order from there several times a week. The vegetarian options (burrito, lasagna, burger) are all very good, and their soups (especially the Yankee Bean) are fantastic. Their salads are huge, though the dressings are all made from the same base which all tastes like Caesar to me. But, hey, I like Caesar salad!
The atmosphere is very diner-y, and the staff are generally friendly and really funny. Service is really quick in the restaurant, and delivery time is good. My delivery orders are always correct.
Check them out!

I used R. K. Bridal to order bridesmaid's dresses for my sister's wedding (she was out of the country), and I'll definitely go back to them for my own.
R.K. Bridal is a warehouse-type bridal store--you're not going to be fawned over and helped to pick out the dress of your dreams. Instead, you're given free reign to touch and try on hundreds of dresses by many designers. You have to figure out your size (decided upon by evil mathematicians) all by yourself, but if you have a seamstress or a picky friend do your measurements, this shouldn't be a problem. R.K. also takes care of shipping your dresses to out-of-state bridesmaids if need be.
Brides and bridesmaids alike are responsible for selecting and ordering the dresses, sizes, and colors desired without help from the staff. In return for this, the dresses are often several hundred dollars cheaper than in other bridal stores, even though they're brand-new/made-to-order. They do have a program where they'll help you every step of the way, but the prices go back up to normal for that. The little extra work on my end was definitely worth the money we saved (and it really wasn't all that difficult--the sizes were the hardest part, but if you use common sense, it's hard to go wrong. Two of the dresses didn't need to be altered at all, and the others required minor hemming and tightening. A coworker who went to a full-service salon was pressured into ordering a dress that turned out to be three sizes too big--they basically had to remake the dress rather than alter it to fit her).

I took a bridesmaid's dress to Mr. David, and am very happy with the results. Another tailor quoted me a price almost as much as the dress had cost, but Mr. David was able to take the bodice in and lift the hem 3 inches for only $75. I was very pleased with the bodice work, which was a little tricky due to some intricate beading. When I wore the dress, you couldn't tell it had been altered at all, but I was able to wear it comfortably all day.
The people who work at Mr. David's were prompt (my dress was finished exactly when they said it would be) and excellent at what they do. I'll definitely go back to them.

Fresco also has a lot of vegetarian options--anything can be made with pinto beans or black beans instead of meat, and they're easy to deal with when you request changes to the order. Their delivery isn't the fastest in the world, but we usually get extra chips and salsa or something. The quacamole is really good, and I also recommend the pinto bean tacos.

Awash offers the best Ethiopian food I've had. The combinations feed two people easily, and have a variety of dishes included. The price is great as well. The key sir alicha is by far my favorite, though any of the lentil dishes are good, too.
Lately, the service at Awash has been going downhill a little, due to poor turnover. Don't go if you're in a rush to get somewhere else afterward. Make plenty of time to sit and visit, and also bring a sweater--it gets chilly inside.
