Though it offers fewer selections, Cafe Spot is definitely highly suggested. My personal favorites are grilled chicken steak with curry sauce and linguine in white whine clam soup. Tea Time from 3-5pm is also advised; you choose a smaller-sized dish that comes with a free beverage of your choice. A signature item is the "chicken egg cake," small oval balls of slightly sweet, steaming sponge cake. I personally think that the food is prepared and present a little better than most of the rushed, overcrowded cafes nearby.

Whether it be lunch or dinner, expect to wait a few short minutes to get a seat in this popular hong kong cafe. Like Garden Cafe just a block down, the lunch menu provides a range of options, and drinks are an extra dollar with lunch special. My personal favorite is the avarasi seafood avocado salad, with mixed greens and giant pieces of scallop, oyster, shrimp, and squid, generous slices of creamy avocado, and all topped with a light drizzle of ranch dressing and vinegar. For dessert, don't forget to try a slice of any of their gourmet cakes so prominently displaced just inside the front door.

Newly rennovated, Garden Cafe definitely stands out among the many Hong Kong - American fusion cafes on Valley Blvd. The extensive lunch menu varies from pan fried noodles to chicken steaks, spaghetti to fruit and shrimp salad. Price is a definite upside, although they have raised them since last remodeling. For lunch, drink is just an extra dollar, and choices range from red bean ice to boba thai iced tea. Garden is a popular joint among young adults, especially later into the evening.

ONLY UNTIL THE END OF SEPTEMBER, every plate of shushi is $2.50; it increases to $2.75 in October You order any kind you like, keep your plates, and they literally count your plates on the spot and charge you accordingly, no taxes included. The service is great, and the food definitley isn't bad. Oen of the most popular sushis is the dynamite roll, basically a california roll baked with a creamy, slightly spicy sauce on top and served hot. A self-serve thermos of hot green tea is nice as well.

If you're looking for cheap, delicious Vietnamese food, Golden Deli is perfect. In fact, Jackie Chan specifically visit the restaurant when filming in LA for Rush Hour. The place is family owned, and both the prices and food quality and quantity are extremely consistent. During cold seasons, pho with a deliciously aromatic beef broth is always a good choice, as is clear noodle (made of mung bean) in seafood broth. Rice and dry vermicelli are popular as well, usually topped with any combination of baked egg, grilled lemon beef, pork, shrimp paste, barbeque meatball, and many others. The most popular appetizer is the fried spring roll that is so full of meaty, peppery flavor; served hot, it is best complimented with cold, crispy lettuce wrap and dipped in sweet and sour sauce. Your only concern should be the long lines that form during peak hours (even for lunch on weekdays).
