Considering that this theatre was built not to long ago, it is a good place to catch a movie because when you're waiting for it to start you can just go shopping!
The theatre is relatively clean, they have an arcade (like many cinemas) and seats are comfortable.
Cons: Hard to find parking, if you go on the weekend it gets so crowded that often times the movies are sold out, tons of high school and junior high kids everywhere.

Now that Oakridge has been completely renovated by Westfield (who seems to be taking over all the malls in the Bay Area), I think it is much better than it ever was before. It has a variety of main stores, their anchor stores are Macy's, Target, and Sears and other little stores as well. The Forever 21 in this mall is HUGE, if not the same size as Valley Fair, even bigger. And the best part is they have a bigger selection since more people go to Valley Fair to shop at that Forever 21. The food court offers a wide variety of choices but they also have some real restaurants there such as The Cheesecake Factory, Buca de Beppo, BJ's, etc.

I love this store for many reasons, not just because I have received cute gifts from friends from here but because it is a wonderful place to get a fun and personal gift for a family friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.
If you aren't familiar with Build a Bear's, it is a teddy bear factory where you can choose an animal (they have bears, frogs, monkeys, etc) and then you get to stuff it with fluff and even put a little heart in it. Then you get to name your little friend, choose clothes for him/her and then take him/her back in a little carboard house.
It is a wonderful place that kids and adults both love and I think it's just a fun place to go.

I think Charlotte Russe is extremely similar to Forever 21, except for at times it can be more expensive than Forever 21. However, it has the same vibe and same type of clothing, except sometime made with better quality material.
They have cute tops for girls to go out in, a ton of accessories like earrings, necklaces, belts, etc. and tons of jeans and dresses. I got my graduation dress here and got a great deal on it.
The staff at this particular charlotte russe is very helpful when you're paying but not when you need a dressing room or anything else.

Going to Santana Row is as my friend put it once "stepping into a totally different world". It really doesn't feel like you're in San Jose anymore. Once you pull into the complex you are surrounded by paved roads, beautiful trees on perfect sidewalks and very high end stores.
If you can afford to shop here, it is a wonderful place to find all the high end merchandise you desire.
If not, it is still fun to go and just hang out. I hear they even have live music playing in the courtyard on Friday nights and the weekend.
Or if you're looking for a place to enjoy yourself after work, I hear Straits cafe (a Singaporean restaurant), is a great place to go. Apparently food is very expensive but its a fun place to get drinks.

If you have the patience to search through what seems like millions and millions of shoes at this store or if shoes are your passion i would suggest going here because sometimes you can find killer deals. Or if you have very little patience for messy places and an overwhelming amount of shoes, then I would not suggest going here.
At DSW they have every type of shoe imaginable, sandals, running shoes, nice work shoes, evening shoes, sandals, etc. They even have bags and little accessories.
It can be a one stop shop for a quick birthday gift for a girl.

This mall has every store you could possibly be looking for in a mall. With the new (well not so new anymore) extensions, you can basically find anything you need in there. Their main stores are Macy's and Macy's Men and Nordstrom (which I love!)
The food court here is great. Bigger than any mall in the bay area with a wide selection from Panda Express, to places with Clam Chowder, Hot Dogs, Italian Food, Mongolian BBQ, etc.
Other stores that I think are fun are: A HUGE forever 21, Rampage, Build a Bear, Tiffany's, etc.
But coming here during the Christmas season can be quite a hassle (due to lack of parking), I would suggest doing your shopping in advance.

At the Great Mall, especially on the weekends, and even during the weekdays, you will find all the kids that go to junior high and high school in Milpitas and the surrounding areas (or so it seems). They're everywhere!
It's not a bad mall, it has a variety of outlet stores if you're into that. Sometimes you can find a good deal, sometimes it's just as high priced as a regular mall.
But the food court is great. They have a variety of options there.
They also have some regular restaurants on the premises like Outback Steakhouse and Coconut Grove (a Malaysian restaurant which i really like).
The mall also has Century Theatres and a glow in the dark mini golf course.

If you're new in San Jose or even if you've lived there your whole life the Winchester Mystery House is something to check out at least once in your life, I know i did =) Often times peoeple will see signs on the 101 advertising it but never go because they don't know what it is. It is an old house built by an old lady from the Winchester family who was quite eccentric. She built weird stairs, weird corners, etc. It is quite fun for kids young and old to go and check it out. They even have night tours which can be quite spooky especially if you go on Halloween or Friday the 13th.

The Macy's at Valley Fair is not bad but not great either. i have been in there at times where everything is a mess (well in the juniors department especially). Clothes are strewn everywhere, nothing is where it is supposed to be and help is hard to find. However, there are other times where it is neater but help is still hard to find. But in terms of selection and deals they have quite a few. It is larger than other Macy's I've been to around the bay area. Overall not bad. You can sometimes find a good deal there.
