For a city that is landlocked, and has no access to the ocean, Sushi Tango serves up some surprisingly fresh fare. The sushi selection is great, and the quality is great too.
The Crunchy roll, the Salmon roll & the Caterpillar roll are some standouts.
The prices are inline with what you pay in Minnesota for good sushi, so beware if you're looking for a dinner under $40 per person. But if you are desiring a great sushi treat, Sushi Tango is a place to check out.

The Grand Ol' Creamery, on Grand Avenue, is probably the best source for ice cream in the Twin Cities. This old fashioned ice cream parlour is a St. Paul staple, boasting the oldest ice cream shop in the Twin Cities.
The ice cream there is literally, the creamiest, densest, richest ice cream around. The flavors vary somewhat, daily, but their Butter Pecan is without equal, and their Mexican Chocolate is delicious & exotic. G.O.C. homebakes their waffle cones, and unlike other places, these have a crunchy, crispy exterior, and a soft cake like center that makes them the thickest, most delicious waffle cones I've ever had. Each cone has a Whoppers Malt Ball in the bottom to stop any drips too.
At G.O.C. you can also get ice cream cakes. Their prices are reasonable, all the cakes are custom made & use their wonderful ice cream. The decorations aren't as fancy or trendy as you'd get at Ben & Jerrys but the quality is worth it.
All in all, G.O.C. is the place to get ice cream in the Twin Cities, if you're a diehard ice cream fanatic, or if you just want to try what real ice cream should tast like.

The Grandview, on Grand Avenue would be a GREAT theater if they would just do one thing - replace those old rickety chairs.
With their prime location, taking out a business loan to upgrade to some nicer seating would send this landmark movie theater into super-profitable territory.
They have the advantage of loyal clientelle, who have been going there because they are indpendantly owned & local, for years. The atmosphere inside is vintage and fun. And the location is perfect, on busy, fun, Grand Avenue.
But if you are looking for the latest theater ammenities, cup holders, stadium seating, leg room, this is not going to do it for you. The Grandview theater is old school style. And maybe that's part of it's charm.

The Main Street Bar & Grill hosts your typical, middle of the road bar atmosphere & food. The wings are pretty good, and there are decent drinks specials most nights. The cheesy garlic bread is nothing to write home about. If you're going to check them out for just some drinks & music though, it's a pretty fun venue. There isn't much room to dance on the dance floor, but don't you look cooler at your table anyways?

I've never actually eaten the food at Brits - I mean come on, it's Brittish food. But Brits is one of the most fun places in the city, to just hang out & enjoy a pint with friends.
During the summer, it's all about the second level, which in addition to lawn bowling (yeah!) offers great views of downtown, a super fun, young crowd, and a beautiful breezy patio.
Also, in August there are movies up on the roof (2nd level), every Thursday (?) night. They show films that are either Brittish, or have something to do with England - like Love Actually, Harry Potter & Notting Hill. Nothing is more fun than enjoying a late summer evening, with a pint of beer & your friends, hanging out at Brits

The staff at Joey D's are unbelievable. They are so friendly, they remember your name & your order and are always helpful in suggesting new dishes.
The atmosphere at JoeyD's is super authentic Chicago style too, with a large map of the Chi-town, Bears & Sox memorabilia & a juke box with lots of blues.
But what makes Joey D's my favorite place to stop for a quick dinner on the way home is the AMAZING Italian Beef sandwichs & Chicago Dogs. The food is 150% AUTHENTIC. The dogs are Vienna style, loaded with sports peppers, sprinkled generously with celery salt & topped with a pickle. The Cheesey Italian Beef sandwich is delicious, juicy, tasty, with LOADS of roast beef & mozzarella on a thick bun. It's just fabulous.
Even if you're not from Chicago, try Joey D's for a taste of the Windy City!!

It may not look like much on the outside, but Ted Cooks is a great place for authentic soul food. Their ribs are the best in town, and their prices are affordable. If you're looking for somewhere to sit down for a quiet meal though, this is not the place, since they do not offer any indoor seating. But it's worth the trip on the way home, to pick up some tasty ribs for dinner!
