Dallas Gold & Silver Exchange is a good jewelry store that is very large. They have counters and counters of jewelry. They also service and clean jewelry. Most of their prices are very good and some are excellent. They are sometime crowded and don't have enough staff to help you but most of the time the staff is very friendly and helpful. They seem to specialize in wedding jewelry. Go there if you are looking and have time to go thru a lot of jewelry!

Garden Ridge is a huge craft store and home decor store. They have everything you need for any kind of craft from silk flowers, cross stitch, ceramics, etc. They always carry a great line of holiday decor and even carry halloween costumes! They have party supplies and balloons. Pictures and kitchen supplies. There isn't a lot they don't carry. The store is very large and you can spend hours there just looking. Prices are very good !

Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie is a great horse track. It is very clean and very pretty. They have races everyday durning race season and even have concerts out there (fourth of july, etc). The staff is wonderful and it is so much fun to go watch the horses race. It is a great way to spend the day and there is plently to do while you are there. There is different seating areas but for the general area- it is very affordable. Look for coupons!

The Dallas Zoo is a nice zoo that is really trying hard to become better. They are an older zoo that has been in Dallas for decades. The zoo is nice but shows signs of being a little run down but it does seem that they are always trying to fix it up and are trying to expain their programs. It is a nice way to spend a day with the kids and they have a lot of animals in their enclosures. There is plenty of parking and if you have any questions- stop one of the staff- they are very friendly and helpful.

Dr Pepper Starcenter is a fun place to go ice skating or take hockey lessons. They have open hours to let people skate and there are people from beginner to advanced on the rink. The prices are very good for an hour of skating. You can also rent skates there if you don't have them. You can have a skating party for a birthday. They also teach lesson there for hockey and figure skating. It is very clean inside and they have a store where you can buy hockey and skate stuff. The staff has always been very friendly.

For those of you that loved putt putt as a kid- this is the place for you! They have two great courses and they are kept up very well. They have great deals for families and everything is family friendly. The greens were very nicely kept and made if fun to play. The kids love it because they have a chance at winning! The prices a good and average for a family night of fun. Can be crowded on weekend nights and there are a lot of teenagers there on the weekends.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealy Plaza is a museum that they built in the old Book Depository in Dallas. It is where the gunman stood when JFK was shot in Dealy Plaza. It is a very neat place to visit. Make sure you do the audio tour. It gives more information than you get from just walking through. It is neat to look down on Dealy plaza and imagine what happened that day. They have lots of film clips and information that I had never seen about the assasination. Great place for history buffs!

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is one of the best gardens I have ever been too. They have so many different varieties of plants and flowers (all marked). I didn't know most of them could grow in Texas. There are always flowers blooming no matter what time of year. There are always brides in the park getting their pictures made and it does make for a lovely backdrop for pictures. It is just a really nice place to take a walk and enjoy nature when you are in the city! A must do for those who haven't!

Everytime I have visitors from out of state they want to go to the Southfork Ranch. It is in Plano and is easy to get to. You get to walk around the grounds and some of the house. There is a museum that has a lot of stuff that was used on the show and there is a gift shop where you can get post cards and such. It is not really very expensive and most of my visitors have enjoyed it. It is a lot smaller than it appears on tv.
