Just a simple place selling really good streudels and danishes. Not many seatings in the store but you don't want to linger in the store when Bearskin Neck is just a stone throw away from this little store. Get your streudel and coffee and head out to the end of the tiny peninsula to enjoy the view while you savor your treats.

When it comes to customer service, this place is horrible. They charge you a fee for an appointment to try on any of their dresses. They are not very attentive to you unless you look like you are going to give them a lot of money. It was such a turn off that I decided to get my dress from another bridal store in east coast.

If you can't find a seat, grab a coffee and head out to Helmut's Streudel and get a (what else?) streudel and stop at Bearskin Neck to relax and enjoy the vista.

This is communal eating. Whatever you and your party orders, it comes served on one very big platter on top of Ethiopian sour crepe like bread called injera. Everybody sits around this big plate and tear off a piece of the bread, pick up a piece of meat or vege and pop it into the mouth. We like all the "watt" sauce, a very spicy one. They offer wonderful vegetarian selections too. Try the lentil beans. Down it with Ethiopian beer. I'm not a big fan of their coffee and desserts though. Decent price and decent service. Easy off street parking.

Ok, if you're in this area, you got to go try this place. The lamb shawarma and falafel sandwiches are simply delicious, big and juicy. They will spice it up for you if you want to. Try their hummus dip with pitas, baba ghanoush and various other stuff (dolmas, tabouleh, chickpeas salad, eggplant napolean), all delicious. Their pomegranate juice and mint tea are popular too. You order at the counter and pay. Then wait at the table for your food. Simple and easy. The decors are really fun. The entire restaurant is colorful and is painted floor to walls to ceiling!

It is a very lovely short drive from Madison to this little town (Cross Plains). You will drive past rolling hills and farmlands. The restaurant and inn is an old Victorian building. We had our small and intimate wedding dinner here almost 8 years ago. The chef was really nice and accommodating. We had 3 main entrees for our guests to choose from (Filet Mignon, Fish dish and a Vegetarian Pasta). Also, they have good local wines. Adjoining the restaurant is a small gift shop selling all kinds of dolly frilly knick knacks. Upstairs is their inn. Worth the little trip to experience something different and get a breath of fresh country air.

First off, parking can be tough on weekend evenings and the place do ge very crowded and noisy. Sushi is of very good quality. Price wise.... well, it is very very expensive. Not a place to fill totally empty tummies. More of an after-dinner kind of place where you get a few bites. It's easy to get over $100 per person if you include drinks.

Unusual combination for a restaurant (Thai and Indian). Food is good and prices very reasonable. I think their Indian food is a lot better than their Thai offering. Had the Pad Thai which was way too sweet and lacking spice. Try their Chicken Makhani or any of the curries. Good service. Ample parking.

Cute little restaurant with nice view as well. Food is good but not as imaginative as I expect it to be. Fairly pricey for rather small portion. We were still hungry after the dinner and dessert (some coconut stuff). Not much available for dessert. But if you want something different, this Hawaiian theme little cafe is for you. Has nice ambiance in the evening though...

I love this specialty store. They carry a very good selection of houseware, kitchen items and gift items. They also do really beautiful gift wrapping for the special gift. I received a nice and bountiful picnic basket filled to the brim with very unique goodies from the Orange Tree for my wedding! They also carry a good selection of greeting cards too.
