The Evergreen might've already seen it's better days, but the staff is friendly, there is a fun sports bar in the main level, big fire place and most importantly, the lodge is very close to town and the mountain. There is a heated pool out back, which is fun. Don't expect fanciness here, but the rooms are clean, parking is free and there is sure to be a lot of activity around.

Lifthouse Condos are nice, but are reminiscent of the 70s as well. HOwever, you are right near the base of the mountain, in Lionshead so you can walk everywhere. The rooms are large and clean and I think they all come with kitchenettes, which is a major plus. The rates are very reasonable.

This place is always busy and fun. It's certainly not the largest mini golf course but it has all the normal fun features. It's at the base of Vail mountain, so you can stop to play before or after riding the gondola to the top of the mountain. There is also a climbing wall next door, something for everyone to do!

The Avon Recreation Center is a spacious workout facility with more than 40,000 square feet of space including an outstanding aquatics area of approximately 15,000 square feet.
Aquatic features include a five lane, 25-yard lap pool, diving well with 2/3 meter board, a leisure pool with fountains, sprays, bubblers, a small kids slide, a 140 foot water slide, lazy river and co-ed Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by a paying guest who is 13 years or older. This guest must actively supervise the child and may be required to wear appropriate swimwear.
Fitness programs are available.
The fitness conditioning area has CYBEX Selectorized strength training stations, a Smith machine, bench press, squat rack, dumbbell weights up to 100 lbs., a weight assisted chin/dip machine, high/low - cable cross machine, abdominal/back benches, and cardiovascular equipment listed as follows: treadmills, steppers, recumbent bikes, upright bikes, rowers, and elliptical walkers. In 2005 we are replacing our current cardio theater system with a state of the art "personal viewing system". The patrons will be able to personally select their own channels (television or digital stereo) and options (television, digital stereo, CD, or DVD).

This store is nice because it is truly at the base of the mountain in Golden Peak. So if you forgot your mittens, hat or chapstick this is the place to go. However, it is usually super chaotic in here, so be prepared to either wait or be alittle pushy. You can also rent skis and snowboards here, again it's nice because you walk out the door and are at the lift.

Like many of the condos you will find for rent in Vail, these are total 70s condos. They are big and have lots of light, but teh buildings are not very architectural inspired. It is on the town bus route, and right next to the pedestrian overpass so you can easily walk into Lionshead or Vail, which is a bonus.

A true sports shop! They have most anything you need to stay warm and dry in any weather, and lots of fun other stuff. Cute hats, climbing clothes & gear, jackets, tents, shoes, water carriers and purifiers. And they don't mind if you try everything on in the store 10 times and don't buy anything. Very friendly staff. If you can't find what you need here, you don't need it!
