The Oven is one of the best parts of the new Belmar development in Lakewood. This local venture prepares wood-fired pizzas to order, with options ranging from the basic pizza margherita to the more adventurous barbecue chicken pizza. They also offer a new pizza variety every day for those of us who keep coming back for more. I have yet to have anything but the most delicious meal there.
They have lunch specials during the work week, but they're really not necessary, as a 12-inch pizza (enough for two people) runs around $12. Their wine selection, while small, adds a nice touch, as does the patio dining area.

Six Flags Elitch Gardens seems more designed with the pre-teen crowd in mind than the over-18 set. While there are a number of rides for young children, it seems that the actual roller coasters are few and far between. One can't expect too much from an amusement park in the middle of town, but an afternoon is more than enough time to go on every ride.
The one thing that is not as child-friendly, however, is the amount of beer that is sold in the park. While I am no prude, I saw a few too many drunk fathers taking their kids on rides.

The Wash Park Grille provides an excellent dining and lounge experience. If you happen to arrive before the dining room opens, you are welcome to enjoy one of their many wines in the lounge area with its variety of seating options or play pool in the back.
Once you do get to the dining room, I highly recommend the wasabi-encrusted ahi tuna. Be prepared to pay well for the experience, however: a full meal with appetizer, entree, drink, and dessert will run around $50-$60.

For less than $10, you can get a great combination platter and a soda. Or, for just a bit more, you can have one of Benny's great margaritas - their strawberry and mango margaritas are both delicioso. As for food, the green chiles and chicken quesadillas are especially good.
Paid parking is available in the back.
