My hubby wears glasses and he gets his exams at costco then goes to For Eyes for frames & lenses because they have nicer frames at better prices. Last time he got glasses I believe we paid $100 for two pairs of frames and lenses and one was a pair of sunglasses. They were super nice and whereas it wasn't as quick as lens crafters, they were still done in under a week and much, much cheaper.

The Celtic Arts Center is a really great community resource. They offer a host of activities including Sessiuns (Irish jam sessions, both regular and beginning), classes on everything from Gaelic to Mead Making, a Gaelic choir, concerts, and first rate Irish Theatre. On Monday nights they offer free gaelic (7 pm) and Ceili (Irish Social Dance 8 pm, every monday except 1st of the month) classes, followed by a sessiun (9pm, 8pm first monday of the month) that will knock your socks off. Come by to listen and chat or particpate.

The food here is classic English pub food, its good, but it can get expensive. It was about $12 for fish and chips – that is fish and fries to you. Their kids menu is a good deal thou -- $5 for a kids fish and fries which is equitable to a more the more expensive single piece of fish and fries on the adult menu. They do have a room for large parties and they are quite good about leaving you alone and not rushing you out or yelling at you if you are noisy.

The Guilded Rose is a very girly place -- the building is a big purple house and its stuffed full of doilies, plump chairs and flowered china. Its not the place to bring a guy -- he will never forgive you. It is an ideal place to go with the girls or to bring your mom or daughter for a special treat. They also have a small room for parties and showers and have dress up gear for children's tea parties. Their shop is full of beautifl things as well. It is high tea, so its pricey (about $20 a person) and everything is miniture, but you most likely won't go hungey and its a very nice, girly place to go for some quality time with the special ladies in your life for some tea and gossip.

Tudor House is a great English Tea house right next to the 3rd street promanade. They offer high tea, but also a variety of other things like savory meat pies, salads, scones, and a variety of beer. Unlike many other tea houses, Tudor House isn't ovely girly. Its a tea house men can feel less obvious in as there are many guys there in the company of their wives and girl friends and there are males waitstaff. Don't forget to pick up some english goodies in the shop on the way out.

For an amusement park, Pacific Park is just ok. Its rather pricey and there are not very many rides. Its quite small and can be boring, even if you get an all-day pass, because you can only ride the rides so many times. The games are a rip-off. But you can't beat the view from the top of the Ferris wheel.

A zoo membership is an amazing thing to have. It means you can go just to look at the sea lions, or only for an hour and it's still worth your while. The zoo is quite large, so if you have small children, they may tire before you see it all. The children’s zoo is lots of fun as is the birdshow.
