I discovered Delancey Street when I was walking along the wharf taking pictures of the Bay Bridge and we kept walking towards Pac Bell (the Giants' ballpark.) We were going to catch a cab back to our hotel and find something near there when we saw this cute restaurant. We decided to look at the menu and saw the most reasonable prices in SF for what was on the menu - good upscale food that is not fufu. The restaurant is run by the Delancey Street enterprises with is a foundation that gives people that have hit rock bottom and want a second chance training and a skill to help them succeed. Since the employees are people trying to turn their life around they are not the most polished but they are good and try hard. The food was great and you feel like you help make a difference.

Filene's Basement in Downtown Crossing is HUGE and they have a great selection of designers brands. This is not my favorite Filene's Basement for clothing but they do have a great selection it is just that I get overwhelmed. You need to be in the mood for bargain shopping and have some time to look through everything or be there for something specific. They also have a great selection of jewelry, gourmet candy and crystal.

Filene's Basement in the South Shore mall is awesome. Even though they are much smaller than the store in Boston I like this store much more. To me it is the right size because when you go to a larger store it is harder to find things. They do not have nearly as much very high end stuff but they have a great selection of brand name items and some unknown brands. The prices are great too, I got a Ralph Lauren jacket for $40.

Billabong is a big name retailer of surf clothing and other summer wear. The store is a great place to find fashionable clothing but not great deals as it is a brand name. You will find lots of tee shirts, sweat shirts and pants and very cute board shorts. They do have a sale rack so be sure to search for deals.

I walked past Crazy Shirts a few times before I thought to stop because I did not really like anything I saw in their window. They have a lot of tee shirts with sayings on them and while they are good quality I do not like the styles. I did however find a terry cloth hat at this store that I wore every day of my honeymoon and I still wear during the summer. I love that hat.

My husband and I discovered this restaurant while in Maui. We decided to check out the Shops at Wailea and checked out their menu and decided to eat dinner. We sat outside which was really nice even though they no longer have the great view of the ocean they used to have. The good was so good we came back on our last night.(I had the fettucini alfredo). We also ate breakfast there one day and he LOVED the lobster eggs benedict.

Honolua Surf Co became my favorite store when I was in Hawaii and it still is now that I am back on the mainland. I love the fact that this is not a huge chain and I have never seen them outside of HI. They offer all sorts of surfer type clothing from tee shirts, sweats, and shorts to shirts and cute tops. They sell both mens and womens clothing. The prices are a little high as are most surfer clothing stores but I love their styles.

Kauai Coffee Company is a nice stop while on the island. They offer tours although I did not have a chance to take one. I really enjoyed their gift shop that showed the history of the coffee company. They offer tons of items to take home from shirts to their coffee and they have coffee carafes setup so that you can taste the coffee before buying it.

Wyland Gallery is located at Pier 39. It is the type of place that I like to walk through but do not every buy. They have tons of Wyland's art from paintings to sculptures both glass and other materials. Wyland's art is mostly sea life and is done is a way that it looks like a cross between photography and fantasy painting. They carry some less expensive items and souvenirs but most art is out of reach for the average person as with most galleries. The art is beautiful.

This is however a good place to pickup a souvenir for someone back home when you are visiting California. If you are looking to find something they likely have it and they have a big selection of celebrity wines like Kiss and Marilyn Monroe.
