This is a fun shop to visit when you're just out killing time, and the staff is friendly but not overbearing. Great soaps, children's clothes, dishes, unusual doodads. I've received flower arrangements from here that are super-nice, so it's my default florist from now on. Shop here, then stop in at Cloud City Coffee two doors down for lunch and java--a perfect Saturday morning outing.

I was a first-time glasses wearer at age 42, and couldn't imagine what life was going to be like with something on my face all the time. Lee at Market Optical was great at picking frames that really did something for me, and made me feel like I was participating in something hip and crazy. The frames here are on the pricey side, but it's hard to beat the selection.

I've been taking our two cats here for five years. Over the years we have seen all their vets, and Drs. Price and Christensen more than the others. They have always been very attentive and caring.
We just had to have one of the cats put down yesterday. He was a great favorite of the staff and when we went in everyone was incredibly supportive and told us how sad they were. They all agreed, gently, that it was his time to go (he was very old, had a tumor, and had stopped eating). Today the doorbell rang and when I opened it, I found a beautiful flower arrangement--yep, from the vet.
In response to other posts: I have not found the front desk staff uncaring or inconsistent. What they are is busy--this is a crowded clinic--and sometimes you have to wait while they serve someone else. If that bugs you, you probably should find another vet.

I bought a multi-family home last May and found Gail Bean of First Horizon through my real estate agent, Eva Brandenburg. Gail was very easy to work with--very responsive and client-centered, more so than any other lender I've met. She helped me get some extraneous stuff (like my sister's SS#) off my credit report, and when we met to go over the financing possibilities she met me at a First Horizon office near me (not the one in Lynnwood). She had many good options laid out for me to choose from, explained them all clearly, answered all my questions fully, and didn't waste any of my time. Her mortgage assistant was also very professional, returned calls and e-mails immediately and was prompt with paperwork. Gail told me to call HER, not FH's 800 number, if I ever had any problems. She gives outstanding service, and I'm planning to use her again. Her number is (425) 712-4003.

I went here for a friend's birthday party recently and was so impressed that I took my daughter for breakfast the next day. They have a huge number of tea varieties, and their cakes are TDF (try the coconut cream). The breakfast menu leans to the eggy side. Everything is very fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The dining area is small, so you should make reservations. Warning: the decor is on the frilly side, and men seem to get rather claustrophobic in here.

I've been to Pontevecchio with my husband. I've been with my husband and small child. I've been with my husband, small child, and in-laws. They have always been incredibly friendly and accommodating--and of course, the food is unbelievable. Although it's a good date place, it's also a fine place to take well-behaved children. On a recent Saturday night, we took our daughter and she ended up sitting at a little table with the owner's children, drawing pictures and eating some yummy little tidbit. The thing that sets Pontevecchio apart from every other Italian restaurant is that they treat you like friends.

It's a bit of a tossup between this place and TreeTop Toys in Lake Forest Park, but Top Ten wins for having more and better stickers and art supplies. They have all the good stuff, no horrible Bratz dolls or other products of the devil, and the staff is a bunch of big kids--they actually seem to have played with everything. Honestly, I have just as much fun going in there without my kid.

I used to love going here, and judging from the crowds (and the reviews here) so did a lot of other people. So why haven't they made a move to rebuild the burned-out Salmon House?

Tish at Amore Pet Sitting has been taking care of our two cats (one of whom needs twice-daily insulin shots), pet hedgehog, and many potted plants several times a year for at least the last three years. I'm not sure if you meant that you wanted someone to LIVE in your house--she doesn't do that, but she is very reliable and loves all animals (even seems to love our prickly little hedgie). She's always been available to us, even once when I called her just a few days before Christmas. She charges $20/visit, and does charge time and a half on holidays. Her number is 206-363-9664.

This is THE place to go to fill kiddie birthday goodie bags. Toys R Us told me they had NO Harry Potter stuff "because there hasn't been a movie out in a few months"--losers! They had ten million Bratz toys, and no Potterbilia? Display & Costume coughed up 16 Potter-branded light-up "magic wands" for $1.49 apiece. I genuflect in their general direction!
