We have kind of a neurotic, bossy dog who doesn't always play well with others, but she does really well at Lucky Dog. They have an "old lady" area for dogs who don't want to run around and play hard with the others. The employees are all really sweet and handle the dogs well. The overnight boarding fee is $25, I believe. All-day daycare is around $20.
They also have tubs and grooming supplies you can use to wash your dog, and their rates are great; we only pay $10 to wash our 25 lb blue heeler (larger dogs cost more).
Lucky Dog is open on weekends, but you'd need to call for exact hours.

I found Ballard Natural Gas (aka Ballard Power Vac) in ye olde Yellow Pages when I was looking for someone to clean my heating ducts and electronic air cleaner. They're cheaper than Washington Energy Services, so I went with them.
Glenn was the tech who came out and was a total professional. He was like the best kind of dentist...one who makes sure you understand that you screwed up by waiting so long for a cleaning, but he's so gosh-darned NICE about it that you can't help but vow to stay on top of the dirt from now on.
He was punctual and explained the process, how long it would take, and he even showed me some of the actual dirt...ewwww. He was in and out in about 2 hours and left no mess.
Call them! Your respiratory system will thank you, and it's an easy way to feel smug for a week or two.

Lorraine Drazba at Kittyhawk has been cutting and coloring my curly locks for several years, and I really like how she treats my hair. She spends 45 - 60 minutes on every cut to make sure it's done right. Lorraine is also great at picking out and mixing tints for highlighting and coloring.
She's also really fun and easy to talk to.

Okay, so carpet and rug cleaning isn't the most exciting thing one can spend one's hard-earned cash on. But I must say that I LOVE taking my rugs into DA Burns, just so I can be on the receiving end of what I consider to be some of the best customer service in town.
They RUN around fetching rugs, measuring them, admiring them, wrapping them in plastic, loading them in the back of your car, etc. etc. It's really fun to watch. And the woman working the counter really knows her rugs and is hyper-efficient. You won't find yourself waiting around for someone to help you; they come to you.
Oh yeah, they also do a beautiful job on the rugs and usually throw in a bottle of spot remover for free. You'll be given their standard 20% discount off listed rates if you drop off and pick up your rug instead of using their delivery service.

Batavia's been open about 6 weeks, so you should expect some funky service issues (like getting your appetizers after your entrees), but the food is very flavorful, fresh and CHEAP.
The owners are a couple of young people from Java who missed good Indonesian food in Seattle for a few years, so they opened their own restaurant. The prices are geared toward UW students, which makes it a very good deal. Most entrees include steamed rice, meat in a curry sauce, cooked jackfruit and a hard-boiled egg doused in chili sauce (I guess it's an acquired taste...?), all for about $6.
The sates are also very tasty...the meat is tender and the accompanying peanut sauce is finger-lickin' good.
Enjoy....

I needed a ride to the airport for a business trip and found this company on Google (towncar services are the same price as a taxi, and much more comfy). I was leery about booking online (the form is old school), but it turns out that I didn't have any reason to worry.
On the day of my flight, they showed up a few minutes early in a very clean and new towncar of some American variety (Lincoln, I reckon?). The driver was courteous but didn't want to chat, which was a-ok with me. I fell asleep in the backseat and woke up when we got to the airport.
The fare was $45 from Ballard, and I tipped 15%. They take all credit cards. I would definitely use them again for airport transportation.
