This is probably my favorite flea market, and I make a point to stop in at least a few times a year- specifically to treat myself to some new additions to my modest record collection. Not only do numerous vendors have crates of records as part of their displays, but tere's actually a store in the indoor market that's open year round and devoted to vinyl. They tend to be pricier than outside, but the condition is guaranteed and they'll test play the record before you buy it if you ask. Aside from my vinyl searchings, the market has infinite temptations for bargaining- so much fun!

Some consignment stores seem to take just about anything their clientele wants to sell- whether or not it's trendy, practically new, or designer. This place, however, has the highest of standards on all three counts- their policy is the item has to be current (from the last 2 years), new or nearly new, and most of the stuff has the elusive designer labels inside. When I was there I saw Chanel pants and impressive-named shoes alongside some more accessibly priced items from places like Talbots and Bebe. But be prepared to pay for it (those pants were marked $115). The good news it that their tiered pricing system means that the longer something's on the rack, the lower th price falls.

The Java Moon was a welcome addition to the Jackson area, as it provided a sorely needed source of gourmet sandwiches, salads, coffees, and more. The food is great regardless of the time of day, the portions are generous, and plates are aestetically pleasing. The dining rooms have this great decorative theme (moon and stars, primarily) and it really adds to the experience. I lived in the vicinity for 4 years and brought nearly all my friends there to eat at one point or another.

Emery's blueberries are locally famous, and with good reason- the fields are numerous and sprawling, and they bake and cook with them for items available for sale on site (the aroma wafting around makes it hard to resist getting something!) The picking is actually really fun- you grab a coffee can with a rope attached, tie it around your waist, and have both hands free to pick the endless berries off of the nicely maintained bushes. All ages can do it, so it's perfect for the family outing. They have a tractor ride and petting zoo, too.

I find myself at Dewolf's several times over the course of the summer, first to get their raspberries and then their blackberries. Both are at the best prices per pound that I have ever seen (really incredible considering that you'll pay about 10x more in the grocery store for berries that are half as good!) The raspberries are in easily manueverable rows of waist-high bushes, just watch out for the bees. Blackberry picking can be a bit more challenging as the rows are somewhat overgrown, and the best bunches can require some stooping and searching. But so worth it.

The outdoor seating at Fran's is great for fun people watching when the weather is even reasonably good, and it's even more fun to pay only $2 for the happy hour special beers. There's a few separate bars that have tall chairs around them. plus the surrounding tables if you want a little more privacy. They even bring out some complimentary food (it can go fast, though!) Locals like to hang here and it's easy to see why- a great mellow spot to take in the New Hope atmosphere.

John and Peter's place has been around for a long, long time, and is a real mainstay for the local music scene. Every day brings live music, and the bar serves a huge selection of brews along with non-alcoholic drinks and a stellar bar menu. The sweet potato fries are especially delicious. The town itself is popular year-round, full of great shopping and activities. Stop in on weekend afternoons while strolling through town- there's free entertainment (tips) from 3-6:30!

This winery seems to specialize in its fruit wines, and has a monthly schedule of what kinds will be brought out. All their current wines are available for tasting in their store, along with gourmet foods for sale. I especially enjoy their Apricot Dinner wine and Sangria. The staff there is nice and very helpful, and they have several events throughout the year to showcase a new vintage or celebrate a season or holiday. The setting is very peaceful and rural, and makes for a pleasant drive out there.

The food is delicious, the service is fast, the demand is high, and if you're lucky Phil himself might be the one standing on the other side of the counter giving you your food. Family-favorite deal of a free 2 liter soda with the purchase of a large pie. Lots of other sandwiches and appetizers on the menu make sure there's something for everyone. Everyone is very friendly and ready with a smile. There's no delivery so you must go pick up your food yourself, but it's worth the trip.

The modest amount of household items as you walk in is followed by a decent selection of clothing, but the back of the store has a nice area of furniture worth a look at if you're searching for something in good condition at a fair price. This smallish store doesn't get the kind of constant business that the larger Red, White, and Blue down the road does, but any serious thrift shopper should stop in as part of the trip to the other store. It's definitely fun and worth the effort.
