This is a really great vintage glass ware shop. A lot of really fun novelty and reminiscent type bar ware and the like. It is vintage, though so that means very pricey. SO sometimes it's fun just to go in and browse, however it is a little tight in the store, so be sure to leave you bags at home, you don't want to knock something off the shelf while in the store.

Great destination spot to fill any chocolate craving. A little pricey, so may be good to reserve for good gifting, unless a true chocoholic, then price is not object. I highly recommend ordering the iced hot chocolate, though hardly a bargain at $4.25, but it will surely satisfy your chocolate needs.

Bloomingdale's is always a fun time to shop, with a great variety and range of clothing and shoes. THe sales here are probably better than any of the other department stores with a lot of the same merchandise. Can be a little hectic at times, but it's fun to go midweek and see what people in this neighborhood look like with nothing to do on a weekday afternoon.

For department store shopping, Saks is the best, in my opinion, even better than Barney's. The departments aren't overloaded with merchandise like at Bloomingdale's, so shopping here is actually quite soothing and relaxing. I would skip the cafe upstairs, though, unless you like paying $12 for a bowl of not very good soup.

I like shopping at Anthropologie, but frankly it is just too expensive. I really love their housewares items, but I will never understand who would ever pay the kind of money they are asking for. At least with the clothes there are good sales and they are quite frequent. So don't waste your time upstairs, just go straight downstairs to where the sale merchandise is.

I don't have a Mac, but all my friends do, and I am always jealous that they get to go to Tekserve while I am stuck dealing with so much garbage getting my laptop fixed. I have a friend whose I-book was dropped and the Mac warranty help center told her it was unfixable, and then she brought it to Tekserve and the guy fixed it for her no problem and was able to do it under warranty.

Every time I go to Strand looking for a particular book I never can find it but I end up leaving with a handful of other books for very little money. It's really fun browsing here. But if you are not the browsing type and don't want to take the chance that they don't have your selection you can check their website and buy them on line and then pick them up at the store.
